Go Tigers! I was lucky enough to get a ticket to the sold out Cotton Bowl game...and boy what a way to end the season! It was wonderful to see all the Black and Gold that flocked to Dallas. I flew down... and all the MU fans were proudly wearing there colors in the airport. I also know friends that drove down and said they saw tiger tales and MU signs the whole way.
Yes, I am one of the many fans upset MU didn't get to go to a better bowl game. However, I am happy our fans came together and sent the message to the BCS that they can't stop our spirit! What a way to ring in the New Year and the future of MU Football!
So... I am still recovering from Saturday's amazing win against KU. I thoguht I would share some pictures from Game Day. It was great to see all the MU fans come out in the snow to cheer on the team. Unfortunately, it was pretty evenly split between MU and KU... but Lee Corso put on the Tiger Head... and that's all that really mattered. Let's get ready for Oklahoma!
You should be! Break out the Black and Gold ... The countdown is here for the Borderwar game between Missouri and Kansas. I can hardly stop thinking about the big match up and ESPN Game Day. As a Tiger fan this game is always huge... but with the national implications, it's hard not to think that a win can land us in New Orleans!
After last Saturday's win at KSU, a reporter asked Coach Pinkel if he realized where two more wins can land his team. Of course he did... but he reminded Mizzou fans that this is still a rivalry game, and that hardcore fans will remember it's about a 116 year tradition.
This will be redshirt freshman Jeremy Maclin's first MU/KU match up. Here's a quote from today's Post Dispatch from Maclin, "I wouldn't say (MU-KU) is a hate thing, but ti's not really a friendly thing, either. It's more in-between." Sorry Maclin... there is no love for Kansas... that's why they call it a BorderWAR!
It's time for more Mizzou fans to start showing their support for the team. Yes, it's great to see the tales flapping behind cars along I-70... but that's just a start! We sold out the Nebraska game... but couldn't repeat it the rest of the season eventhough our ranking climbed in the polls. And finally, the sport shows are giving Chase Daniel and the team more air time. There was even an article on the front page of the Wall Street Journal today.
We want MU to earn the national respect they deserve. However, the team can only do so much. It takes a great fan base to help keep them in the national spotlight! There's no way MU can have the long time tradition of LSU, Michigan, OSU or USC overnight. This is our chance to show the country why we deserve to be the 3rd best team in the country... and not let WVU and other schools take our spots.
No matter if you are watching the game at Arrowhead, at a bar with friends or out of state with family for the holiday, find another alum and just watch it! Here are some ways to brush up before the game so we can cheer loud and proud!
