Last night while driving home from work around 3 AM, I noticed multiple cars with only the driver in it, with a TV on in the front seat, if driving with a cell phone is illegal, then why are these people allowed to drive down the street watching TV of all things.   This should be illegal also.

it's not illegal for cell phones in cars....yet. At least not in Missouri.

baicas, the ones I keep seeing (in North County) are the DVD screens with the porno playing! This one (an 80's Cadillac) had 5 screens all showing the same porno flick where anyone driving behind them could see. For the time I was behind them (about two blocks) I put my highbeams on to show that I did not think that was appropriate while driving around a residential area. Were are the cops when you need them?

Well using a TV for watcing movies, yes. It should be illegal. But having a TV to be used as a monitor for backing-up, then that's different. On big trucks, some comes with a camera feature with a TV monitor which helps the driver on knwoing what is in his blind spot. The new MetroBuses don't have back windows, so a camera and a monitor would help out the dirver in seeing if anyone is running for the bus.

On our way home from the Farmington area, we notice a car with a tv screen in the front also. I think there were others in the car, but, it is still a distraction for the driver.
Yes, they should make the front seat tv sets illegal.

It is illegal. Thats why when the monitors are installed, most say vehicle has to be in "Park" to play. But this is very easy to bypass to allow viewing while in drive.

I don't know about Missouri, but, in Illinois it is illegal to have a TV where it can be viewed by the driver.

Pugman - next time take a picture, and be sure to include the license plate. Then, just send it in to the police. They can cross reference that license plate and send the appropriate ticket to the registered owner. They do it for red lights, so why not?

I know what you are talking about I was driving down Lindberg at 5pm in broad daylight and there was a group of about 10 playing chicken in the middle of the road. Acting like they were going to jump in frount of cars. I called the police but I don't know if anything was done.

Trust me these were not GPS or backing up systems, they were TV's, the screen was moving from frame to frame, and different colors could be seen with someone on the screen.
