Wowweee!  Talking about making me feel at home in our new home!

We've been in our new house for 2 weeks now.    Near Sedalia.     I was just in the other room and all of a sudden, I hear what I SWEAR is Sean Conroy's voice reporting from a Kansas City station!

I run into the room, and dang if it really wasn't him!   How cool is that, that Fox news does that, and now I feel like I'm still part of the STL family!

Thanks guys!

And thanks Sean!    Great job today, btw!

Hugs atcha all!

Mornin' all! Today is a special day for me! For years St Pat's was a family holiday. We always went to the parade on Saturday. My grandpa was St Patrick IN THE PARADE! We'd be so proud. Sometimes we'd walk in the parade, other times we'd just sit on the side and grab as much candy as we could!

My grandparents helped start one of the first Irish clubs here in STL. The "Young Ireland Club". My grandparents Irish heritage was a really big deal to them. They were very proud to be legal Irish immigrants. They both came through Ellis Island. And my mom actually got to go see there names on the registry!

After the parade we'd all go back to grandma's for a HUGE family meal. Interestingly enough, it was never corn beef and cabbage, but more like ham and potato salad. LOL! My mom is the second youngest of 9 kids. And there were about 18 cousins living locally. In all I think there are 25 grandkids. We'd all cram up to the table and sit on an old bench Grandpa made. It held 5 of us.

When my grandparents got older, we would just go watch the parade. And my mom ALWAYS bought my grandparents a green carnation to wear. My grandma loved that! It was probably corny, but she liked it. I used to love sitting next to my grandparents during the parade, and watching their proud eyes as the floats went past.

In all they were only able to go back to Ireland a few times. And they both moved here in the 20's when they were 18 or so. But for some reason, Ireland was always their home. I've never been there, but one day I will go and visit my cousins. They've all come here to visit. Maybe one day!

Anyway, HAPPY DAY ALL!

I haven't decided if I'm taking the boys to the parade today. It starts at noon, and I'm not very motivated after this weekend.

Maybe I'll just call my parents and bring my mom a green carnation!

That's my motto. For real!

I try to wake up every morning and say that to myself. I also live every day like it might be my last. No regrets.

But today, that motto rings so true! Andy left this morning for his new base. That's it. It's really happening!

Tomorrow the boys and I will drive out there after I get off work. We're going to see the house Saturday while the chimney is being inspected. I'm getting a bit excited to say the least. I think the boys are too.

If all the inspections look good. Andy will move into the house on April 1st. We'll be renting it pending the sale of our house. Say some prayers! We can only afford a double mortgage for about 4 months. So, we need our house to sell quick. Heck the boys and I will move into a hotel if we have to!

The movers will be coming May 27.  So we have a couple of months yet.

Anyway, you guys are so great for support and understanding. AND advice! I am really blessed to have met all of you.  Thanks to all of you!

Last night Andy and I went to town to a local bar  We haven't been down there in quite awhile...

Anyway, as I was walking this guy calls me over. He tells me he has a joke for me.

OK. So he proceeds to tell me the joke, about the 5th word in he uses the "N" word. Now I don't know if ya'll know me well, but anyone who uses that word in front of me WILL get an earfull!

He goes on and on and on.. In all I think he said it 10 times.. I politely listened to him. And when he finished I didn't laugh. He asked me if I didn't think it was funny. And I told him the truth.

"Well, actually I stopped listening the first time you used the "N" word. I don't appreciate you using that word in front of me. Not at all. It's very rude"

And he got mad at me and said,"Well fine, why don't you just move along on your miss goody two shoe twinkle toes"

So I moved on.  And he gave me dirty looks all night.  What is it that makes people think it's ok to talk like that?!   I just don't get it.

This morning I got 2 phone calls at 5 am, from the principle of both my kids schools to tell me the school was closed...  Northwest R-1 ROCKS!

What happened in the city?  Somebody oversleep?  Ridiculous! I'm just sayin'!

Never in my life have I EVER seen anything like this!

Andy and I went looking at houses w/ our boys over the weekend near our new base. We traveled 40 miles south near Truman  lake to look at an old farm house. As we were getting out of the car we heard a bunch of geese honking. I glanced up thinking I'd see a flock flying over.. WHAT A FLOCK! OMG! Totally blew me away!

The realtor's husband told us that this happens every year around this time. Crazy!

The pictures don't do it justice. There were thousands! They must have stretched out almost a mile!!! Too cool.

You live, you die, and that's a fact. But sometimes it's not really that easy.

I'm hurting right now. Not because someone is dying, but because I have to watch the grief and sadness in my husband's eyes, and there is nothing I can do.

Grandma has been in the hospital for a couple of weeks now. They moved her to a rehab center. And it seems it's all down hill now. Andy spoke to his Grandpa on the phone last night. Andrew has NEVER heard his Grandpa cry. She's having trouble speaking, and he can't get her to eat anything.

Andrew left this morning for Ohio. I think it's for the best. He needs to be there. I wish we could all go. We'd probably just be in the way.

Andy's dad is in denial, he refuses to go to the hospital on a regular basis. He refuses to drive his dad there when he wants, forcing Grandpa to drive himself. Grandpa has cancer on the bottom of his feet, and it's very painful to walk much less drive. His Dad spends the day at home drinking, sleeping and drinking.

Andy's sister refuses to go see her. "I won't be able to handle what Grandma has become"

I don't understand these reactions. For me, it's common sense to do these things for the people you love. Isn't it?

If I was close, I would be taking turns w/ Andy's cousins and uncle sitting w/ them at the hosp. And happy to do so!

My mom told me that everyone handles situations like this differently, and there's nothing I can do about it. What I want to do is call them both up and BOOGEDY them out royally. Andy said once he gets there, he's going to try to talk sense into his dad. Good luck w/ that.

Meanwhile, here at home, I'll pray, cry a little, and I'm going to send Grandma red roses. I found out this last year that on her birthday her best friend used to send her red roses every year, because they were her favorite. Up until her friend died.

Maybe it'll make her smile a little.

Last night was the last hoorah at the 131st Fighter Wing.  We went to a hanger dance and what a blast!

The Commemerative AF provided some sweet rides to see, and the bands were AWESOME!   I haven't had so much fun in a long time.  My feet are killing me though from all the dancing.

Here's a pic or two....

Don't remember what this one is, but I thought paint job was cool!

You do realize that  being able to hold a beer WHILE dancing is pure talent!

/p> Greg Knight, News 4  Reno, NV

This afternoon we received a call from a viewer who said a business near downtown Reno was flying a Mexican flag above an American flag... which is in fact illegal.

This, after photos and comments about the flag were posted on Craigslist this morning. When we were able to have a photographer go and check everything out we found the story to be true.

It also didn t take long before the situation provoked a strong reaction. We are now going to show you , unedited, what happened. Click on the video to see what happened.

Sorry!  I don't know how to embed the video, but if you click on the link you can see it!  It's pretty amazing!

What do you think of this?!

Just saw this ad up above and it reminded me it's coming!  I'm pretty excited about it.  I believe the Arch Bishop said not to take field trips there w/ the catholic schools.  But the parents should decide if their kids should see it.

Personally, I'm pulling my boys from school for a day to go.  I think it's totally fascinating.   Do any of you plan on going?  Or is it something you think is morally wrong?

I'll have to update ya'll about our trip.    Too bad you can't take pics of it.

The three hours of dead air the children’s network will begin broadcasting at noon (ET/PT) is part of its fourth annual worldwide day of play, an encouragement to kids to get outside and work on getting in shape.

I honestly didn't understand racism until I moved to southern Georgia.

Talk about getting my eyes wide OPEN! We lived in a town that was actually divided by rail road tracks. White on one side, blacks on the other. This was in '94 people! My husband accidentally went into an all black bar w/ some friends, and almost got his BOOGEDY kicked! They finished their beer quickly and got the heck outa there.

My white next door neighber, a sweet little 70 year old woman, used the N word every other word! It totally amazed me. I was in shock. I excused it because I figured she was raised that way, and didn't know any better. To this day I HATE that word. People who live around me still use it. And I warn them not to use it around me. If they continue, they are asked to leave my home. I WILL not raise MY kids that way!

I think people need to expand their outlook on life and take a look around at the world. Racism exists, it starts at HOME! Teach your children not to HATE, then there will be no hate.

From Anti-depressants.

Recently I ran out of my meds again. And I've been doing so great, I thought well, maybe this time I don't need them.. After 8 days I crashed hard. I had a great week, then by Sunday out of the blue I was irritable, angry, bummed out, so so tired. I went to bed and couldn't sleep.

In the middle of the night, I thought to myself. Maybe these are withdrawal symptoms.

Sure enough. They were.

I started taking Celexa 6 years ago. Have been on and off since. Every time I try to quit I end up in the hospital depressed as hell, suicidal. And of course, I'd just get back on the meds because obviously I needed them right?

Wrong! Turns out that the withdrawal symptoms from SSRIs are depression, suicidal thoughts, impulsive behavior. And the symptoms are worse than before you took the meds.

It is suggested you wean yourself off the drugs, because of the symptoms. Now my question is, why the hell didn't the doctors tell me any of this? They were more than happy to write a script and get me back on the drugs. No one told me that my depression might be  withdrawal.

That's really scary if you think about it.

Right now I'm looking at 8 months to a year of weaning off, and will still have the symptoms 1-4 months after I'm off. CRAZY!

Please read the fine print and ask lots of questions before you go on them. I was too depressed to care and took them willingly, now I'm suffering the consequences.

My husband and I have been married for 14 years, and have 3 boys. I work part time as a receptionist for a Chiropractor, and I have to say, I LOVE MY JOB! On my days off, I love hanging out at the river, and my new hobby fishing. I also sew on the side, odd jobs and such. I'm hoping to get back into crafting now that the kids are back in school.
