This morning I got 2 phone calls at 5 am, from the principle of both my kids schools to tell me the school was closed...  Northwest R-1 ROCKS!

What happened in the city?  Somebody oversleep?  Ridiculous! I'm just sayin'!

It's just not the City My son goes to Illinois Center For Autisum they stayed open. I called the bus comp myself and told them not even to show up. This is crazy a school that caters to hanicap children staying open what ever happened to the welfare of our children comes first.

Well I am actually shocked that St Louis Schools arent closed. They are usually the first ones closed. Its our school district that I always get mad at because I live in a small town the backroads never get any attention and our schools always stay open but not today which that was another shock. I agree though there should be no schools open in this mess and everyone that is angry has every right to.

you cant put all the blame on schools. the weather guys were telling us LAST night about this storm coming, so youcould of made a decision last night if you were going tosend your kids to school.and i would rather have my kid stay at school if the roads were so bad. i know where they and that they are safe and will not be on the roads or in a ditch

I'm not suprised that the city schools aren't closed. My oldest went to city schools for 15years and very seldom did thet close. The county and rural schools close more often that the city schools. I just know that ifmy kids were still in school. And i seen what it looked like outside I sure wouldn't have sent them to school.

Maybe its because the SAB has NO IDEA how to run a district?

Clayton school district is open. What the heck are they thinking? they don't even supply school busses for middle school and highschool. They expect the kids to walk to school, be driven or drive.... thats insane! They bus in the kids from the city though!?!?! I think the administrater must have gone out to check the weather, slipped hit his head!! If I get a phone call shortly to go back and pick her up..... there will be a scene!

i guess the schools are more interested in getting credit for a day of school than your kids safety. everyone should just keep their kids home. my kids were in the wright city school district. they always seemed to have school no matter how bad the weather. then they would let out early leaving all the parents scrambling to get their kids. one bad weather day they had school, let out early and one of the busses was in an accident. killed the bus driver and injured some of the kids. now they cancel school when it is called for. shame that it took a death to get them to do what the should have been doing all along. keep the kids safe

Most School Superintendents are required to have their Masters and/or Doctorates Degrees. Along with a degree that takes an extra 3 to 5 years to attain, they should include Common Sense 101.

These administrators are not specialized in weather and/or never have been. Channel 5 didn't (still doesn't) even have our school listed as closed while Fox 2 did a great job in the posting at 7am.

Common Sense 101 - they all need it.

Yes, St. Louis city schools are the last ones to close. It did not make any sense to come to school for a half day in this mess. It was really terrible how the staff and students had to come out in this weather when whomever could have just closed schools for today and tomorrow. It is crazy.

My husband and I have been married for 14 years, and have 3 boys. I work part time as a receptionist for a Chiropractor, and I have to say, I LOVE MY JOB! On my days off, I love hanging out at the river, and my new hobby fishing. I also sew on the side, odd jobs and such. I'm hoping to get back into crafting now that the kids are back in school.
