Hey Dan - I looked over the one that was online (25 questions) and answered the majority correct that dealt with common sense. Now, when it came to actual knowledge of firefighting I didn't know these because I haven't had even a crash course.

I cannot see any way this test is steering towards white/black or male/female or dog/cat...it's a straight line test that has absolutlely no steering. Let me know how you did.

BOTTOM LINE the chief....well ex chief, had a job to do and he didn't do it! In anyother J.O.B. whoeve was in charge would be reprimanded as well possibly fired!!! Would someone explain to me why this is such a big freaking deal!!!! The protesters at city hall are FOR THE BIRDS!!!! DON'T they have a LIFE or JOBS to do???? GROW UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If there are no questions about crime, murders, poorly kept yards, 15+ kids per single mother... how will the black people be able to answer the questions. For the math part, maybe they can use their illegitimate kids...

This is how a test can be racially biased. The former Dircetor of Personnel William Duffy wrote in a letter some years ago, that the black members of the fire department scored better on the fire scene assesment portion of the promotional exam. At this time the fire scene was in essay form. You had to manage manpower and equipment, there was no guessing you had to know your job, and there was no a,b,c,d answer key. Since that time the city has gone to an almost entirely multiple guess test. Why do whites seem to test better on multiple choice on the fire department, you ask.They are better connected in the Department of Personnel.Firefighters have to wait two to three months for results now and in several promotional exams were not allowed to see their test. You didn't hear about the white firefighters who told on the other white firefighters for cheating did you. NO not in our media. Everyone on the fire department knows who cheated, it's always going to leak out. It's just sad that St.Louis can't get past the nonsense.

Here we go again, always wanting to make any issue concerning a black person into a racial issue. Well, in this case, I guess the black community is right-Chief George was demoted because he was black. If he'd been white and defied an explicit directive from his boss he would likely have been fired. You wouldn't have seen whites out protesting the firing though. You can bet my job would go bye-bye if I deliberately (and publicly) defied my boss.
