WebsterGroves's Blog

Although there is not much going on right now in weather, I'll start up a blog so the weather bloggers have a place to gather with fresh weather news. I'll leave it to those with a greater ability than I at interpreting the models to flesh out their forecasts in the comments.

There is the potential for severe weather tomorrow, so check the comments for updates.

  • Models have slowed somewhat with the next system to push through - instead of Thursday evening, it looks like more of a Friday/Friday night event with potential for severe storms; KC area is looking at the potential for thunderstorms and tornadic activity Thursday evening;
  • SNOW in the west - Rapid City, SD, could see 1-3 FEET!

What's going on in your weather world?

Webster- Thanks for doing this. I was a little lost not having a place to check in at.

It's cooling down outside.

The general trend has been to slow this system down a bit. If this continues, tomorrow could be a long day for our friends at the NWS. Tornadoes are certainly a possibility..we'll see.

Hmm....alot more clouds today than I had expected, if that continues tomorrow, the severe chances will decreases quite a bit.

Ok.. I have been gone for a while... stuck at work for 16-18 hours a day right now for an exercise... as I was leaving I noticed that there was a very dangerous line of storms forming just west of KC. I do think if that line dies and the sun can come up tomorow and burn off some clouds... we will be in it. I also think that the SPC jumped the gun with the moderate risk. Have to wait and see... More later chao!

Thanks for starting the Webster.

Just looking at the SPC information for Friday. We are in the severe weather zone, including the potential for long track tornadoes. And there is a moderate risk area for metro east and down into SE MO and the bootheel. Definitely a day to stay abreast of things.

ATTM...IT APPEARS THAT THE MOST FAVORABLE
SHEAR/INSTABILITY COMBINATION WILL EXIST BETWEEN 02/21Z AND 03/03Z
FROM ROUGHLY CENTRAL IL/SERN MO SWD ACROSS ERN AR/NWRN MS. ALONG
WITH POTENTIALLY A MORE LINEAR ZONE OF STORMS -- WITH EMBEDDED
ROTATION -- INVOF THE SURFACE FRONT...MORE ISOLATED STORMS ARE ALSO
EXPECTED TO DEVELOP WITHIN THE WARM SECTOR INVOF MORE SUBTLE
BOUNDARIES. GIVEN THE DEGREE OF LOW-LEVEL SHEAR AND DEWPOINTS WELL
INTO THE 60S ACROSS A LARGE AREA...TORNADOES -- A FEW POTENTIALLY
STRONG/LONG-LIVED -- ARE ANTICIPATED. DEGREE OF INSTABILITY ALSO
SUPPORTS LARGE HAIL AND LOCALLY-DAMAGING WINDS WITH
LONG-LIVED/WELL-ORGANIZED STORMS -- BOTH LINEAR AND CELLULAR.
CONVECTION SHOULD CONTINUE SHIFTING EWD ACROSS THE MS VALLEY THROUGH
THE EVENING/OVERNIGHT...AND THOUGH A SLOW DECREASE IN SEVERE THREAT
IS ANTICIPATED WITH THE LOSS OF DAYTIME HEATING...SOME THREAT WILL
LIKELY PERSIST THROUGH 03/12Z.

Thanks for starting this Webster.

Now if you'll excuse me I'll be over in the corner in the fetal position trying to remember how to spell my own name.

Well we just have to wait and see cause everytime we have tornadic weather it just fall apart and go north just like every other storms we had earlier this year, but I COULD BE WRONG FOLKS!! It takes perfect timming and all the other stuff to come together for a big Tornado storm...Im looking @ tornado watch tomorrow

Severe storm watch is now in affect for many counties now. Seems to be a watch for high winds and damaging hail. Storms are now located around Columbia, marching to the east. Storms should be here close to 8am. Another round is expected this afternoon.

Now....where are the boys that can give the details? Wake up boys... weather is calling you.

There seems to be quite a bit of damage in the Kansas City area as the storms passed thru, and more damage well into the Ozarks. Nice squall line seems to be filling in also as the storms move to the east. Looks like the morning rush could be interesting.
