...and was invited to lunch with Presidents.

Yes, amidst all the manufactured angst from those who believe Barack Obama hates America and is secretly hoping for its demise (along with all those scary Democrats who are going to vote for him) a little historical perspective is helpful.

Evangelical Preacher Francis Schaeffer said this:

If there is a legitimate reason for the use of force [against the US government]... then at a certain point force is justifiable.

Good Lord! Sound the klaxons and alert the media!! Surely that's what happened, right?

Erm, no. His son Frank Schaeffer writes that "
he was invited to lunch with presidents Ford, Reagan and Bush, Sr. "

Oh. The guy who wrote this.....
There does come a time when force, even physical force, is appropriate... A true Christian in Hitler's Germany and in the occupied countries should have defied the false and counterfeit state. This brings us to a current issue that is crucial for the future of the church in the United States, the issue of abortion... It is time we consciously realize that when any office commands what is contrary to God's law it abrogates it's authority. And our loyalty to the God who gave this law then requires that we make the appropriate response in that situation...

...was celebrated by Reagan, Ford, and Bush Sr. So, not only did the  preacher advocate violent overthrow of the United States, he compared the US to "Hitler's Germany." And the Fords invited him to be their guest and spend the night in the White House.

Indeed, consider this:

My dad's books denouncing America and comparing the USA to Hitler are still best sellers in the "respectable" evangelical community and he's still hailed as a prophet by many Republican leaders. When Mike Huckabee was recently asked by Katie Couric to name one book he'd take with him to a desert island, besides the Bible, he named Dad's "Whatever Happened to the Human Race? " a book where Dad also compared America to Hitler's Germany.

Hypocrisy is a funny thing, isn't it?

bubba - do you have a thoughtful response specific to the topic of this blog? Or are you reduced to just babbling right wing talking points and hyperbole?

Has no purpose to debate here. I love what I do and am having fun with Liberals. If you do not like it go ahead and delete.

Two wrongs still do not make a right. I'm registered as a Democrat but, do not care for B.O. or the Hilldebeast.....the "infighting" among the democrat contenders will, by several anaylists be the cataylist which gives the presidency to McCain.

Which goes to my comment. I did answer your blog in my own way.

bubba - no, you didn't really, but that's ok. I know you're probably doing the best you can, which is to just repeat meaninless rhetoric over and over and think you're being clever.

IM2FAST - disagree. There have been heated primaries on both sides many times and the party generally coalesces again for the general. (Witness all the people who said they would never vote for McCain if he was the candidate - I suspect most of them will). McCain represents an extension of Bush's policies and when it's head to head in the general that difference will become more pronounced.

For a Liberal you are not so dumb after all. Good for you. Have a free healthcare program on me.

We'll see.....but don't be surprised when you're wrong. Polls are showing a deepening rift in the Democratic party and many whom support Hillary strongly have stated they would much rather see McCain be elected than B.O.. The same thing goes for supporters of B.O. if he doesn't get the nomination.....

This is simply another election which is the Democrats to lose, and it appears they are doing just that yet again.

Here is another stupid comment and nothing to do with your blog. 2fast is 2 right. That is why the Democrats are voting in record numbers. Your Party is self destructing for control. Should not have let the poor and retched have such a strong voice.

"Democrats are voting in record numbers. Should not have let the poor and retched have such a strong voice."

To whom should we allow voting privileges? How about people who can spell? Did you mean "wretched"? So much for a participatory Democracy, eh? It's clear you really don't have much meaningful to say - that's why I'm going to leave your comments up (not sure why you though I would delete them anyway) - because you are typical of many: loud and insulting with very little of substance to add to the discourse.

IM2Fast - historically, this is not uncommon. Passions run high during primaries and threats are made - this is true of both parties. We shall see.

Whoa Whoa Whoa There is one great difference between the association of 1 dinner and the association of life long friend. Wright is Oboma's teacher, mentor, political advisor, and close associate over a 20 yr period. Rev. Wright would be a potential member of Obama's cabinate. Rev. wright is a big part of who Obama is. He wants people to know his faith is an important part of his life. He chose this man as his paster. YOU GUYS HAVE BEAT THIS HYPOCRISY DRUM TO PIECES.

There is one great difference between the association of 1 dinner and the association of life long friend.

One dinner? No, this was a preacher that that three presidents, Billy Graham, Jack Kemp, Mike Huckabee -over the course of decades - praised as a great man and invited to the White House.

YOU GUYS HAVE BEAT THIS HYPOCRISY DRUM TO PIECES

Well, there's a lot to beat, isn't there? You guys stomp your feet about Obama's former pastor, but then say "who cares" about the evangelical preachers who promote the GOP but call Catholicism a "the great BOOGEDY."

This is a weak attempt to divert attention from Obama's lunatic pastor. Kdubken was right on the money. Obama is a liar and probably shares some of J Wrights lunatic views. I am waiting for a smart investigator to match Obama's attendance at church with some very inflammatory Wright sermons. Wright uses church as vessel to launch his anti-American hate rhetoric. A 20 year relationship with a hate-mongering racist and a few dinners with a controversial minister....I do not think so.

and probably shares some of J Wrights lunatic views.

That's pure speculation and he's already said he doesn't. There's nothing to suggest he does. Using your logic, I can assume that Bush and all the other candidates who court the leaders of Bob Jones University hate Catholics, right?

I am waiting for a smart investigator to match Obama's attendance at church with some very inflammatory Wright sermons.

I'm sure you are. Sadly for you, they've already proven he was far away in Miami for the worst of it.

One thing I don't think you get -- it's OK to criticize America. Not that I advocate the way Wright has done it, but criticism doesn't imply hate. Can you understand that?

"That's pure speculation and he's already said he doesn't. There's nothing to suggest he does"

Yeah right...I have some ocean front property in Kansas that I will let you have at a discounted price!

"I'm sure you are. Sadly for you, they've already proven he was far away in Miami for the worst of it"

Actually there is a reporter that was in attendance with Obama, when some pretty inflammatory remarks were made. Stay tuned,
more to come!

Keep in mind that J Wright had a well know reputation in Chicago, as a racist and hate monger.
