My heart goes out to the family of the fallen firefighter who just stopped to help someone!  It is truly a sad day when you think you are doing someone a favor and they shoot because they are a horrid, horrid person.  I am appalled at the fact that someone would think they can get away with murder.  Luckily for that person the Police did the right thing, they had no choice, theyj justifiably so in my opinion, took a life.  I applaud the police for their actions!  Good guys 1, bad guys -2!  Thanks to all the firefighters, police and armed services for what you do!  Stay Safe!
