I don't get it, yesterday I left MUCH later than usual for my morning routine and getting to work, I needed to wait for the salt to do some work on the hill in our subdivision.  Anyway, it took me round about 35-40 minutes to get to work.  I was only about 5 minutes late for leaving as late as I did.  Today I leave an hour EARLIER than I usually do during normal weather conditions and it took me 2 hours to get to work and I was almost a half hour late.  What gives, was it more people stayed home because of the icey conditions than the snowy conditions.  If you can't drive in slick conditions, god forbid stay home so I can.  It should not have taken me 2 hours to get from House Springs to Fenton.  Yes, I was driving a 4 wheel drive chevy, no I am not cocky and think I own the road, ESPECIALLY in slick conditions, and yes, I do take my time and drive safely but 2 hours was just ridiculous!

OK I may be dumb and this may have already been discussed, if so I apologize.  I woke up to the early mornings shaking this time.  What I am wondering is, what technically determines the difference between an actual earthquake and an aftershock?  Is it the magnitude?  And the deal with so many aftershocks over such a long period, or it may not even be a long period.  I don't know.  Any insight would be great.

Our 80 year old granny, caught a bout of the flu.  We ended up at the ER with her last night, she was too weak to move and couldn't keep anything down and kept saying she just wanted to be with grandpa for her birthday. That is in just a couple weeks but he passed about 5 years ago.   After a couple of hours on the drip IV, she was feeling a lot better and getting back to her funny little self.  They kept her over night for observation.  I'm terrified to get the flu.  In the waiting room there were so many sick people I couldn't stay.  People were sitting there with buckets in their laps or they were slouched over the chairs and there was a vomit smell in the air.  My stomach was very queezy and weak to the smell and sign of vomit.  There was a 3 hour wait.  Do you get a FLU shot and if so, do you end up with it or never get it?  I don't get the shot because the one and only time I did, a few days later I was violently ill and will never do it again.  I guess it works differently for different people but for me, it doesn't.  I need to get to the doctor for an annual check up myself but will wait until this flu bug passes or gets a little further away.  I have not had the flu since the time I got the shot and hope to never get it again and that must've been at least 10 years ago when I worked at the hospital.  We were required to get it.  I haven't had as much as a small cold in several years.

It was a toss up, the main roads were clear but like my subdivision, a bus was stuck in the middle of the hill trying to get out.  It was a solid sheet of ice.  If you get enough speed at the bottom you can get up it without a problem.  But the sup of NWR1 should've thought about the subdivisions these buses have to go into.  The bus inched its way back down the hill, slightly sliding side ways.  The line up of cars waiting worked its way up the hill but I unfortunately was one of the unlucky ones to get up.  I couldnt get my speed up because the bus was at the bottom of the hill with a kid just standing there partly in the road.  Got stuck in the middle and had to be pulled up the rest of the way by the subdivisions snow plow.  These buses should not have been out on these roads.  Several were broke down along my route in also.

Hi I'm JayJ,  32ish single mom of one 7 year old girl.  I've been a lurker for awhile, posted maybe once or twice since I signed up but never introduced myself.

I work a regular full time somewhat decent job during the week and on the weekends when my daughter is with her father I work a 2nd part time job delivering pizza's in the high ridge house springs area.  I go into some of these subdivisions and OMG! There is absolutely no reason for street lights this time of year.  Some of the decorations are just unbelievible. Big beauitful, huge and ever so bright.  Do subdivisions have competitions on their decorations or what?  Every house is just decked to the gills, I would hate to have their electric bill.  I live in a small community I am dying to get out of right now because nobody seems to care about anything and its going downhill quick.  Does anybody else out there have huge displays?  I will take a picture of mine soon and post it.  That is, if I can get out there before they get stolen.  Last year, my big blow up lit up snowman disappeared, I found it in someone elses front yard way down the road.  I took it back.  Smart me put my address on all my big expensive stuff.

I hope to post more and get to know you guys, you look like a great bunch!
