Over a month ago we bought a new HD TV with our stimulus check.  We had Dish Network for our satellite provider.  We've always been extremely happy with them.  I called the number off their website and somehow got ahold of something called FunDish.  They  ttold me that in our area, DIRECTV was the better server and they were switching us to them.  She told me that Direct is NEVER bothered by weather....found out that's a lie.  Then, they said we were to get professional free installation.  The guy told me that he had to have a check for $90.00 before he would turn it on.  He even used our cement and my husband dug the hole!  Called them back and they said we shouldn't have paid him.  Uh, yeah....they told me they would send us a partial refund....never got it.

Now, I paid my first bill online and got a confirmation of payment along with a confirmation number via email.  Yesterday I got a late payment with a late fee tacked onto it! I called my bank and she told me that the money had been deducted from our account and sent to DIRECTV. I checked my bank statement, and yep, there it was made out to DIRECTV.  I called DIRECTV, and they told me I hadn't paid my bill. I told them that I had proof in the email comfirmation, the bank, and the bank statement.  She says I have to fax a copy of my bank statement to them to prove I paid it!  What the heck is going on?  I don't know what to do.  What's seeing my bank statement going to do.  They still clain they never got it.  I won't pay it again, and darn sure won't pay that late fee!

I won't be sending them a copy of my bank statement!  Where do i go next to alleviate this?  Help me Fox 2!!

Were you talking to someone in this country or India? Maybe a call station in Iraq? That was why my dad go rid of his direct dish last year.

I think DIRECT uses subcontract labor for installers. The cheaper the better. That would be why they asked for payment before turning the thing on.

Maybe if enough people have the same problem then FOX would be interested. Otherwise your one month might not interest them.

I just wonder if I gonna have to continue this month after month? My sister has DIRECT too and has her payments directly taken out of her account. She got a late bill!

a couple of weeks ago we had a guy here wanting us to switch from directv to dish network, the funny thing was that his shirt on the front said dish network, and on the sleeve said directv.
It was a better deal, but I am under a contract still.

I have filed a report with the BBB.

As you know all satellites will/can go out with bad weather. This sounds very fishy with the company and you should pursue it further.

I think I would speak to all 3 News Stations and get their consumer reporters investigating this. You are due back some money and the right to cancel your dish - immediately.

She told me last night (the gal from DIRECTV) that I'm bound by 2 yr. contract.

USF: Yes but that contract does have a performance issue that says they must perform the tasks as promised or you should get your money back and out of the contract.

I would work on getting information to the investigative reporters so they can find a way to help you.

Someone mentioned the BBB which is an excellent point also. You don't want anyone else to get caught up in the mess that you have now so the BBB is a good start too.

We had the same thing happen to us....except they said they worked for DirectTV and they were going to upgrade but I would first have to cancel my old account and open a new one....in order to get the free upgrades....a week later I get a letter from Dish saying they were sorry I didnt open an account with them.....he also had the shirt on that had both Dish and DirectTV on it....

WPW budermom, what's going on out there. When I had called Dish to cancel our service, they asked why. I told them that I had called the number off their website, and she was surprised. She said they had nothing to do with DIRECTV.
I don't understand how this happened when what I called came off their own site.

I won't bore you with all of my details, but I had much better luck with Attorney Jay Nixons office. Report it to him. You can do it online.

We haven't had any problems with DISH for 3.5 yrs. It rearely goes out--if it is very windy or hail. It is out only a few minutes. Charter was far worse and had many billing issues.

Why not show your bank statement? It shows the amt, the date the funds were taken and to whom they went? Thats what they need to credit you and waive your late fee. Once they have that info, it will be their prob to figure out where they actually applied the money. If after you send them what they need to fix the problem and then if it doesnt get straightened out, thats when you have a reason to get upset.

Would you want to have to do this every time? I asked if I'm gonna have to go thru this every month and by a supervisor, I got told "I don't know." As I wrote, the bank said a bunch of people are having the same problem. I'd say DIRECTV needs to get their heads out of their butts!

I have never had an issue with DirectTV and them receiving a payment....so I cant help on that issue...I either pay online or go and do a MoneyGram....

and I also have to say that normally CS with Direct is great...

I am thinking the event we had happen was a little suspicious...Glad I ended up in the end saying NO

I am a retired letter carrier with the Postal Service. I live in the country with my husband, who is my best friend. We met doing country dancing and did a lot of it. I have three children...1 daughter and 2 sons. We are now the proud grandparents of a beautiful baby girl! I am a country girl thru and thru, and love nothing better than living out here in the middle of our woods! I love Fox 2 in the morning and feel lacking if I don't get to see it.
