As Winter takes its hold my thoughts return to the stove. There is something in the air that makes me want to bake and cook all the warming stick to your ribs recipes that I have put on hold during the warmer weather. It seems to be a winter tradition to put a large pot on the burner and add many ingredients to simmer for several hours into a stew or chili. My favorite is chicken and dumplings. Do you have a special winter food you like to make?

Castro and his buddies are celebrating fifty years of his revolution. That is nothing to celebrate.  Cuba has been in dire straights since the day he took it over.  That is why so many Cubans are still fleeing to live here. to this day. In all that time Cuba is still in a very bad state with people in poverty.  Nothing good has come of him and will not from his brother either.  I hope one day the Castro hold will be gone and the citizens can be free to live better lives. In their hearts I do not believe most citizens are celebrating this.

My name is Jeanette and I live in an historic district in St. Louis. My time is spent working on my historic home and getting used to the empty nest! Well, actually she just moved next door. I am happy to be a baby boomer who never intends to retire from life. Afterall, I am just beginning the next half! The photo on my blog was taken by me at my favorite spot, Shaw's Garden.
