We hear so much about home attendents that are mean to the people they take care of, well this story is quite a bit different.

The house next door to me had a bad fire 2 days ago right here in Queens (Middle Village). The home attendent who lives in the house with an 90 year old + lady managed to get the elderly woman to the basement door , calling for help at that point the mailman lent a hand and carried the woman to the safety of the street as the house burned.

The elderly woman was taken to the hospital and was treated from what I hear is also doing well now. The home attendent was taken to the hospita and treated for smoke inhalation and I believe minor burns to her head. Had it not have been for the home attendent this elderly woman probably would not have made it out of the house.

I have attached pictures of the house that burned. I heard it was an electrical fire in the boiler room but so far this is only rumor.

I thought it only right to give this home attendent a mention for her heroic act. The fire occured at 65-14 75th Place Middle Village Queens.

The below email was sent to me this morning if anyone here gets one this guy is a fraud and con artist. I am right now looking for the bureau to foreward it to then I want to see if anyone does anything about it or are they gonna just warn people and not even look for this guy. I feel the reason these scammers are out there is because it's like a free enterprise because no one does anything about it.

The request of foreigner to collaboration and penetrate the
fund is occasioned by the fact that the customer was a

Instead of complaining about the Police Department as so many do why not find out why some of the officers act the way they do. Read up on the procedures they follow and one big mistake people make that I have noticed is they quote Penal Law and Criminal Procedure Law, are you aware that NYPD Patrol Guide is what the Officers follow and it is stricter than NYS Law. EG. You can NOT shoot at a vehicle unless the driver or occupants are using Deadly Physical Force OTHER THAN THE VEHICLE. CPL you can shoot a fleeing felon PD says you can not just shoot any fleeing felon Depraved indifference to human life and the fact that if the Perpetrator gets away you feel that he will cause serious physical injury or death to another. There is that word feel leaving it to the perception of the Officer.

In my opinion you have a bunch of rookies that do not have enough experience in the street and not enough seasoned officers to put them wise to the streets. The problem here is the officers that do have time? who did they learn from. The problems there having today are not the same as when I was on the job. To be very honest I had a big problem with the amount of shots fired in the Bell case.

I don’t want to get into this story to deep because it’s long but I was picked out of what the Department called a lineup/ show up and it was neither, for police brutality of a Tropicana driver.

I was never at the scene, I was putting gas in my radio car in the 52 pct and was assigned to drive a Lieutenant who I informed about the call as it was coming over the radio. The job was a shooting in the 46 pct. It seems Police officers from several pct’s responded. They later found the officer who was responsible. My point here is there are cases of mistaken ID. When judging an incident put yourself in the Cops position my question to you is what would you do.

The Police do not always make the right decision, Their not Perfect

My girlfriend was the victim of a con artist not to long ago. She was trying to rent an apt. she has and a friend of hers put it on Craigs List. The ad was answered by some guy who calls himself Dr. James from the UK who I later found out was sending email from CA. What he did was send her checks when she deposited them the bank cleared 5000 dollars out of 9500. This Dr James requested she send money grams out to pay for his furniture he was having delivered to the apt. and she complied. To make a long story short here she lost over 7000 dollars. The NYPD told her when she went to make a report that because the person named in the check lives on the Island it was Suffolk County jurisdiction and the report has to be made there. We went there They told us because the check was deposited in a Queens bank it was NYPD’s jurisdiction, when I explained we were referred to them the desk officer spoke with a Detective. This is what the Detective had to say, there is no crime here it’s a civil matter and referred us to court. We could not talk to the Detective but the desk officer made out what is called an informational and I always thought con games were against the law I’m in the wrong business. I’m going to attach the report he made out that’s not a crime.

PS. I am Tom54 and will now be using this name I am trying to get the rest of what I posted as Tom54 here under this name.

Retired New York City Police Officer. When I started my career I went into the New York City Correction Dept. I did 2 years and 2 months there and transferred to NYCPD. I learned a lot working there but the overtime at the time was nuts. I entered PD I was 29 years old so maybe that helped keep me out of trouble. I am very open and not afraid to tell all now. I retired in 1999. I was married but divorced in 1995 and no it wasn’t due to my job LOL. I am happily living with a wonderful woman now in Queens.
