GAS TAX
An increased gas tax is one idea on
the table to help pay for the paving of new lanes on Interstate 70 and Interstate
44.
One plan is a one cent sales
tax - the other a half cent sales tax along with increasing the state gas
tax.
Most of the money would go to
building a new lane just for large trucks to travel I-70.
ILLINOIS FUEL CRUNCH
The fuel crunch in Illinois could get worse in July. The Illinois
Petroleum Marketers Association says inventories are tight in the East St.
Louis area. It's asking the federal
government to let stations sell lower-grade
gas.
Illinois gas prices are among the highest in
the country, averaging more than $3.30 a gallon.

FOX 2's J.C. Corcoran thinks the next three years will go by a lot more smoothly if everyone tries to remember some of what we learned in driver's education.
He thinks that during Highway 40 Construction, we'd all better slow it down a notch.
