Mike Swoboda, the former mayor of Kirkwood who was shot and badly injured during a rampage at City Hall in February, has died. Swoboda died Saturday morning of complications connected to the shooting. He would have turned 70 this month. Swoboda was shot twice in the head. He was hospitalized for weeks but appeared to be recovering before suffering setbacks in recent months.  He is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Swoboda family and the city of Kirkwood.

Safe journey Brother Swoboda.

I pray for your family, community, and most of all, I pray for you.

You served your duty to God, community, and country well.

Thank you for the short time we had with you.

I read on another site that the family was asking for privacy, but I would imagine sending a card or letter to Kirkwood City Hall would probably be one way. I'm sure they would forward it on.

I will keep his family in my prayers. God will get them through this.

2 Corinthians 12:8-10

8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.

9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

I had the greatest of priveledge to talk with Mayor Swoboda a couple of times. Just sitting at a restaraunt in Kirkwood. He was a gracious and caring man.
My sympathies to his family and friends.
