In just a few short years, David Beckham could be playing soccer in St. Louis- as a visiting player, of course - if a new Major League Soccer team is awarded to our city. The man whose dream it is to bring Major League Soccer to the area 'Sounds Off' on turning his dream into reality. What do you think? Would you attend MLS games in the St. Louis area? Yes, having a championship team in my city in the next 10 years is a great dream. While I may only be 18, I do, however, see the realities of this dream. The reality is the money just isn't there and isn't going to be there. The currently corrupt city council will try to pay for the project with yet another increase in sales tax. This increase in tax wouldn't be noticed in small purchases but would add up greatly over time. Making minimum wage, having to pay for college and 4 dollars a gallon for gas means every little bit more they take hurts quite a bit. To sum it up the only way for this to work for Collinsville is for Illinois and the city of St. Louis to fund the project which will not happen.

It is not wanted in Illinois where property taxes are much higher then Mo to pay for the "public education" and the thousands of renters that Collinsville already encourages that have multiple children and do not pay taxes or any fees. Now they want to give FREE taxes to single family homes in this soccer fiasco?! NO way ! I will not be paying higher taxes to fund this lawyers "dream". Pay property taxes or do not live property in the Collinsville School Dist! I am quite sick and frankly stretched already to the seams paying for these pipe dreams and corrupt politicians in IL who think we have money growing in our backyards. Not even adding up the 30 cents + higher in gasoline. Jobs here in the Metro East pay less so politicians stop the high(and now non tax proposal for your buddies). ALso who is going ot pay fo rthe additional fireman, water treatment plants, and police for these non tax paying soccer subdivision?

About time Collinsville brought this into their town. We are very strong in soccer. I played goalie for Dr. Pepper in the 80's and for CHS. Over 16 years and coached my oldest team for 4. I love the sport, and we have great talent in that sport too.

Just hope it will benefit some of the families that can not afford to put their children into sports..

Quote of the day: Build memories for everyone for one day they will build one for you.

If the developer wants to bring soccor to Collinsville he should have to pay for everything period! And having tax breaks for the proposed condo's is crazy. When questioned on how the school was supposed to support the additional students without extra money the response was "most people who live in this type of development are single people with no children" Ok so if your single with no children in school you do not have to pay taxes? Please sign me up! My property taxes have gone up $300-$500 each and every year I have lived in Collinsville enough is enough stop robbing from me to pay for someone else's pipe dream.

I think MLS Soccer in the St Louis area is long overdue and having relocated to this area after watching MLS soccer regularly for 10 years on my doorstep in San Jose CA I can't wait to see a local MLS team here.

After viewing about ten seconds of the clip I feel like i'm going to have a seizure. Does either the cameraman or editor (perhaps both?) have Parkinson's? Seriously, what high-school put this together?

Crazy video aside, I agree that STL is LONG overdue for a professional team. While i'm not an avid MLS viewer, I watch the FA Premiership and UEFA Champions leagues regularly. It would be nice to have a MLS I could go see.

Another thing that would be nice is getting teams from other leagues/countries here for friendlies.

This is overdue for St. Louis and extremely professional. Jeff Cooper has a great plan and I hope it becomes reality. The only thing that can stop him are people who are against anything progressive or don't care enough to support him. MLS soccer is better than ever and the United States is finally getting with the game. St. Louis has to be represented and this is our best chance yet. Count me in for season tickets when it happens.
