In today's economy, charities are having a tough time helping people in need. But for many organizations, time is almost as important as money. That's especially true for Habitat for Humanity.  With hammers in hand, one north St. Louis neighborhood is changing one nail and board at a time.  Habitat's construction manager, William McHugh, Jr., Sounds Off about how the new homeowners, the volunteers, and the community as a whole all benefit. What do you think? Have you volunteered with the organization in the past? Post your thoughts in the Comments section.

I will be working with Waste Management to do a build for someone in their organization. The build is this month.
The concept is the homeowner puts sweat equity into the home, therefore has more pride in ownership. I find it to be a great community project and rewarding on many levels.

Our daughter volunteers for the habitat in florida. She was recently sent to MI to work on the Jimmy Carter project. She told us that was a emotional experience. She told us there is still plenty of work to be done. I believe habitat is helping people. We never heard about his until our daughter signed up for this rewarding experience. This a great volunteer project.
