Like Mr wildflower I stop by and pay my respects a few times a year . I have family there also .
Its a national disgrace our childern know so little about what our military has provided . The rights we take for granted ,free speech , religion , education and choice . Without our past and present military chances are we would not have them .
God Bless those that stand in harmsway ! And thank you one and all .

Growing up, JB was my backyard, literally! The apartments we lived in bordered the park. I spent a lot of time in those museums and in awe at the sight of the cemetary. Growing up right there fueled my interest in Civil War history.

In April, my boy scout den had the opportunity to go to JB on a field trip. We learned all about the history of the military base and I was surprised to learn that every soldier that served in WWII had to pass through JB (one of my co-leaders works there and knows all kinds of interesting facts about it. He is bieng deployed in a few weeks.) It is also interesting to know that JB, as a military base, has never been closed. Our scouts also participated in the "Good Turn"- placing flags on the graves.

Aside from bieng a beautiful park, Jefferson Barracks has a rich history. My boys and I especially enjoyed the WWII reenactment a few weeks ago. I love to use JB as a teaching tool for my children; a place like that captures their attention and makes it fun to learn history and appreciate our freedom that much more!

Men and Women serving in the military have given their todays for our tomorrows. Those who died serving our country have given their tomorrows for our todays. May we never forget these brave men and women, past and present.

My daughter knows exactly why we celebrate Memorial Day and it's not just because the pool opened. We have been down to JB several times. A couple of times we have stopped our car and got out for full military honored funerals. It's only respectful. One time a woman in the service came over to us and thanked us for stopping. I told her, No Thank You.
