With gas prices at an all time high, some people are holding off on taking that big vacation and are opting instead to stay closer to home. Of course, city leaders know that and say it could be a good thing.  In the Sound Off report, St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay has options for what you can do to be a tourist in your own town.  What do you think of St. Louis as a hometown vacation? Tell us what you think here.

Actually St. Louis has a boat load of attractions that could keep anyone entertained for a couple of weeks. From kids to retirees.

I couldn't see my family vacationing in St. Louis because we are spoiled enough because of proximity that we've visited most sites.

We have friends that lived here for nearly 25 years and have been in Orlando for almost 8 - they have now lost 2 vacation destinations.

If people hold off on vacationing because of gas then they are more apt to just stay home and actually save money.

Can't wait for the "POLITICAL YEAR" to be OVER!!! Things go "haywire" everytime we have to vote in a new president! I will stay home and not vacation until this politial BS is over! I think that things will get back on track after the political games come to an end.
What a SHAME that us AMERICANS have to put up with all of this manipulation!!!

Great idea. St. Louis City has a number of nice places and things to do. If you like reality shows like cops, chances are, you may even be on TV. Maybe, lift the CCW ban at the Arch for increased revenue? PS: I go and do what I want, whenever I want. Legally. It is still America no matter what Politicians or anyone else tries to do to me.

I think it's a great idea. Maybe they ought to offer coupons for some places to get more people to come there and spend more money.

To We are the worlds Love it. Also funny but sad is St. Louis and County areas and people control the Political winds of the entire state. Just a few more years and bye bye.

True I avoid downtown like th plague and if I wasn't from here I would think it was similar to Iraq. But that aside there ARE a lot of things to do.

When I think of New Jersey I think of the above post.

There are so many places and things to do in St. Louis that I haven't done. My kids can't remember going up in the Arch. It has been so long since we have gone to the zoo, time to take the grandchild. The museums surely don't have the same exibits that had 20 years ago? We haven't had a picnic in a park seems live forever.
