It's one of those issues that gets arguments started every year. It seems that every year there's somebody new added to the list and if you don't tip them, all of a sudden you're a bad person.

So where does it end?

Do you tip during the holidays? It’s your turn to “Sound Off” by telling us why or why not.

I tip at restuarants and when I get a haircut. That is about the only places I go that you tip. I tip, average about 15%, with 20% for good service. Also if I am really impressed with the service, I make sure the manager or owner knows how good the service was.

I cannot afford much either, but I tip what is deserved. I don't tip if it is not earned. And my earned...I mean effort. Some people go above and beyond and deserve a good tip. Others are there to do the job and act like they are doing you a favor letting you become a customer. These don't get tips from me.

I too can't afford much. When I tip I tip 25%. If the service is bad they get a penny. I think a penny says alot.

I only tip for personal service, such as at a restaurant that actually waits on me or a delivery driver (though they only get $1 or $2). My tip amount depends on the level of service with the best service being 20%, the worst will get nothing, well, maybe a handwritten note or a call to management.

I rarely tip though since I couldn't tell you the last time I actually dined out at a restaurant.

i certainly would never tip a mail carrier. do you realize how much they make? they make good money, i also wouldn't tip my paper delivery person. if i got the paper delivered. i tip in resturants the one time i eat out once a month and my hairdresser which i only go to every 5 months but i don't give anything extra at christmas to my hairdresser . when you don't make a lot of money and have to live with no financial help like a husband or boyfriend, it is hard to survive. i make tons of sacrifes in order to do the things i do. i work 2 jobs plus never eat out

I tip 15% to 20% at resturant/bars/pizza boy...And thats it...Employers need to pay more, especially in the case of the pizza boy. It's not my fault gas is high...And sometimes I will leave a nickle,if I get lousy service...

I deliver pizza on the weekends, and to be quite honest with you, I have seen a HUGE decrease in tips since thanksgiving. Us drivers are providing a service too. I almost always ALWAYS tip a pizza delivery driver at least 3 bucks.

I am one of those people who tip. Besides waiters and hairdressers, I tip:

The ladies that do my mani/pedi each get an extra tip during the holidays (above what I normally tip them). I've used them for years and they treat me well, so I feel they deserve it.
I always tip the haircut people extra for my kids (at every haircut) cause they're wiggly and I know it's harder to cut kids hair.
If the kids mess up a table at a restaurant, I tip extra for the extra clean-up.
I tip the piano instructor the cost of one month of lessons at Christmas.
I tip the kid that cuts our lawn the cost of one lawn cutting during Christmas.
I donate to the group gift for all of my kids teachers (including the TA's, the speech therapist, the occupational therapist, the art teachers, the gym teachers, etc) and both of the bus drivers.
I tip the cleaning lady the cost of one cleaning.
I tip the mail carrier, trash man and paper delivery guy: something small, just a gift card to Bread Co or something.
When we've had contractors in the house for extended periods of time, I've also tipped them during the holidays.
I know all of this seems extravagant, but all of these people provide a service to us and I went back to work specifically so that we could afford these services again. When we didn't have these services, I missed them and if I have to work an extra 20 hours just to pay for the tips for these people, I'd rather do that than not have them.
Also, I find that when you tip them, they're eager to continue to work for you and will prioritize you or make sure that when they're on vaca

Sorry at this time of the year...I drive thru, cook my pizza's at home and only tip for good service. I do give my postmaster, teachers and friends that have helped me out all year long a small bubble bath or lotion gift. It's all I can afford.

I must admit, there was quite a few generous pizza lovers out there this past saturday. I got 2 $10 tips and an $8 tip for a total of $93 in tips on saturday alone for a 10 hour day. Although there were still a few scrooges out there.

I am a bigger tipper. I have always had jobs where I had to live off tips. If I want to go out to eat, get my hair done, have a cleaning lady come, I make sure that I have enough for a tip or I dont do it. I remember tending bar and a man was in there drinking for hours, playing pool, etc. He told me good night and pulled out his wallet to tip me. He told me he only had $20 left and he wasnt supposed to spend has much as he did, so no tip for me. I just smiled and told him to drive safe but I wanted to scream at him. I made $2 an hour (that was only 3 years ago) and depended on my tips. So big tips to everyone from me!
