When John Q. Public buys a house on a variable rate and it turns out to be a bad investment plan, or goes in debt with credit cards to the point he can't pay his bills, he goes broke. He loses his house, car, and anything else the lender can re-possess. Too bad - so sad.

When John Q. Wallstreet loans out money to someone (lots of someones) he knows might not be able to pay it back and it turns out to be a bad investment plan while he milks the company dry by taking an outrageous salary (among other forms of misappropriation and cronyism), he gets bailed out by the government (which is US - you and me). Not only that - he gets to keep all the money he "earned" along with his houses, cars, RVs, boats, etc. And let's not forget the multi-million-dollar golden parachute.

Republicans like to say that Democrats or "Liberals" want to redistribute wealth. Not true. We just want a level playing field.

You are like a good republican. Believe and promote the hype. Bet Rush is pushing this too. Like a herd of sheep. Told what to believe and follow blindly. You're a good Republican

Could just foreclose on the bad loans, how many son in laws would be homeless with no bailout for 'Wall Street'?

The logic behind this help the business over the individual is, individuals don't create jobs and can't pay the bailout back.

Sad but true!

As the bail-out of Wall Street begins, so does the bail out of all the big investors.

They're all bailing out. Of the Stock Market..!

The Dow is headed Down..Down..Down..!

While our 700 Billion is headed into their pockets and out of the country.

The Republicans said in 2000 "Happy Days are here again.." Why.. Because their stealing can start again. Like in the 80's with the Savings & Loan mess they caused.

So the national song of the Republicans is,

Happy Days are here again... because we can rip off the dumb public again.
Steal their hard earned money and cheat.. them..
Happy Days are here again...

Or

I'm proud to be a Republican.. Because we cheat every day...
So.. Stand up... and loose your home... because it is the Republican way...

Some people are going to make a lot of money on this deal . Some people are going to loose a lot of money. A whole bunch of people are going to buy bargain houses.
Down the road it will all straiten out.

In the meantime, a lot of families will become homeless while the greedy CEOs pad their pockets and take expensive vacations.

You have Obama, Ayres, Dodd, Schumer, Franks, Acorn, Fanny Mae, Freddy Mac ,and, a well intentioned Jimmy Carter to thank for that. Jimmy set it up and the rest carried out the failure of some of the biggest banks in the country.

You are correct there will be homeless families and anyone who has a couple extra rooms should help them out.

I’ve lived in St. Louis for 47 years. That means before the Arch, before the “old” Busch Stadium, before the PSB. Let’s put it in perspective – before the Beatles. I remember when the St. Louis sky was grey all winter from the coal burning furnaces, when there were newspaper stands on the busy street corners, and the paperboys (and girls) rolled their wooden boxes down the streets calling out, “Post and Globe Papers!” I remember the produce trucks going up and down the streets selling their wares, when the man that sharpened knives came through the neighborhood with the familiar clang of his contraption. I remember when children walked to school in their own neighborhoods, and you could walk home for lunch. I remember when the school picnics were held at the Highlands, and when the park “accidentally” burned down to make way for the community college. I remember riding the bus downtown at Christmastime just to see the animated window displays, and the bus driver telling people to go to the back of the bus. I remember the Three Stooges and the Police Circus performing at Sportsman’s Park, and Captain Eleven and Cookie on the steamboat ride down the Muddy Mississloppy. I’m a third generation St. Louisan, a product of the St. Louis Public Schools, and proud of our history and heritage. I love this city for many reasons, not all of them nostalgic. For a city this size, we are the best-kept secret in the world of tourism. There’s a lot of things to do here, many of which are free: our world class zoo, muny opera, art museum, science center, history museum, not to mention the Anheuser-Busch and Grant’s Farm tours with free beer. Viva St. Louis!
