I was actually surprised but pleasantly pleased to hear the reckless, irresponsible trooper involved in killing those two teen girls by driving 120MPH is being charged with reckless homicide!

Yes, maybe there IS some justice in this country, every now and then!

Our thanks should go to the Grand Jury on this case, who heard the facts and made the decision to charge rather quickly!  Kudos to them!

We the people have spoken, loud and clear!  This is the way justice is supposed to work.

Now it's up to a jury of his peers.  Let's hope they also do the right thing and punish this guy for taking two innocent lives.  Put him away for a while so he can't hurt anybody else!

Well hog I guess the entire law enforcement system (the same one he works for) is brain washed by the liberal media. I know that a grand jury could possibly be smart enough to look at the evidence and form an opinion. Yes agree that this is the right thing to do. I hope that he can get a fair trial and appropriate punishment.

I do believe that he should be punished for his actions, however I am sure he did not intend to kill 2 teenagers that night.

But we all know if that was any of us that we would not be able to stay at home with pay and enjoy life. We would be sitting in jail awaiting trial with no pay and costing us thousands of dollars for attorney fees. Must be nice to be above the law.
When he is charged he will be in a plush prison not in general pop. where convicted killers go. Again must be nice to be above the law..Granted he may not have intended to kill anyone that day but he should have known what 126mph would do if anything would have happened. Again above the law. He will walk slap on the hand a measly 16 years...ooooo please with the option for parole. Pft whatever.

I hope you gutless wonders never do anything wrong. This case has been on the media since it happened and you all think you are authorities on the case. None of you know all the facts.
The case was sensationalized by the media and I'm sure the grand jury has been somewhat swayed.
"Throw him to the lions", HUH!

The minimum sentence is parole....and you people will go spastic when that happens.
He does not belong in jail!
You people are idiots! And one of you, at least, is jealous of his salary...Shame!

SIK...In the communistic country you want, he would already have been executed.
Speedy will be cheering soon also, you know he was an eye witness from about 3 or 4 miles away.

"didn't intend to" "didn't mean to" "it was an accident"

When will we take responsibility for our actions?

It sucks and no one wants it to happen, neither did this guy, but it did, and now you suffer the consequences.

This will be interesting once the jury speaks.

Is this going to be another blog bashing the police, each other, etc? Just wondering.

The grand jury made the right decision after looking at everything. This officer was not inncoent of driving fast, some time before this same officer was involved in accident in which a young man is now in a wheelchair and it cost the state of Illinois Several Millions of dollars(this was reported by B.N.D and the young man did an interview) so I have no symaphany for this man. If I had done the same thing I would not be allowed out of jail. But it will be interesting too see who he hires as an attorney. I hope that justice does win out and yes he needs to be in Gen pop with all the other inmates he does not deserve special treatment.

The only reason he would get the treatment of not being in gen pop is because he is a police officer and we all know how inmates hate the coppers. I don't think he would survive a month if he is in gen pop......

Popeye: You sound like hoghd23. Actually we do know all the facts now and the States Attorney along with the Grand Jury evaluated everything in great detail. The media did their job and reported the story.

As for the minimum sentence, “parole” is not a sentence...brother – you probably meant probation. I don’t think jail time will help him since he’s not a criminal. He did make a huge mistake and hotrodded a bit and got busted. He’ll probably never wear a badge again (mainly in IL), get 5 years probation, and be sued for about 100 times his salary. The state will pay out 1,000 times his salary.

Calling anyone an idiot for his/her opinion tells me you are hoghd23. Please stay in hiding until you can bring respect to the table.

Speedy is here not cheering anyone on but glad things are finally moving on this case. I was not an eye witness and if you would have read my blog back on November 23, 2007 you would know that. The actual mileage was a little over 2 miles away.

I would sincerely hope that all the facts are in after at least three groups of people have looked over the evidence. It all started with the Il St Police investigators recommending to Haida that charges be filed then a coroners jury took that information with the same outcome. Now a special grand jury after about two months have come back. If there's any new found information they better hope its positive because it doesn't look good.

You will never know all the evidence. You don't have a need to know. The jury "might" get all the evidence, then again,"might not".
I mispoke when I said parole, I meant probation.
He will be put on probation and more than likely lose his job in Illinois. That's plenty and will satisfy the media and it's diehard followers.....YOU!

(In my opinion) He doesn't deserve to drive anymore.

He needs to spend some time in prison too!

And they should make Missouri officers keep their cameras on when their lights and siren is on too!

Sick of the extreme right wing profiteers commandeering this country putting profits ahead of people. I'm old enough to remember when the government represented the people, not just the wealthiest of the wealthy. But that doesn't mean I don't love my two cute little Fox Terriers and all doggies! But we all need to have some fun every now and then, in the face of a continuing and harrowing threat from the extremists and fanatics to take our freedom and our money as they force their agenda on all of us. We need to take our country back, and we can have fun doing it! Life under Obama will just be more fun - no more hangups about prayer in schools or burning flags, we'll just get on with life! Here's hoping we don't make yet another four year mistake - More of the Same Pain McCain, or Obama, we'll choose, and live with the decision for four more years. I think the choice is clear, don't you?
