Iraqi Leaders' Vacation

Wow.  The Iraqi Parliament wants to take a two month vacation!

Now, if that doesn't prove how full of it they are, what else could you want?

Can any of the remaining minority of you who still support this war really believe we are doing any good over there for anybody?

To those of you so worried that pulling out will lead to more attacks on the US: Isn't that what our "defense" is for?  Remember, we call it the Department of DEFENSE, not Department of OFFENSE!  IF we had excellent intelligence (of course, under Bush that's questionable, quite frankly) - but IF we had excellent intelligence, then we should, for about .01% of the cost of this war, be prepared for any attack and kick any attacker's butt to kingdom come.

We CAN prevent attacks on our soil -  without giving a rat's butt what happens to them kooks over there.  That's why we spend $500 BILLION a year on defense, isn't it?

Of course, if you believe as I do that the REAL worry about leaving Iraq would be the threat to Israel, I say - let Israel defend itself with the $10-20 BILLION a year military aid we give them.  I'd say that should be enough to prevent rock throwing and crude fireworks-level rockets from hurting them, don't you think?

I have an idea.  I think ALL our troops and support needs to take a two-month vacation!  Send all our troops and military gear and money home for two months.

And then let's keep them here.

As in many conflicts of life , sometimes the best defence is a good O F F E N C E.

did not KILL ten of thousands of their own people for GIGGLES.I would imagine the jewish
people of Germany from the forties are glad that Americans were RED WHITE AND BLUE then!!

We are not really the police of this planet. We also do not attack countries and declare war on them. That is one of our doctrines. In WWII we were attacked by Japan at Pearl Harbor. Our shipping was being attacked in the Atlantic by Germany. Until Japans attack, we hadn't taken too much interest. They declared war on us. We did not attack Japan.
We do not look away from those attrocities being committed. We are still not responsible for them either. Those people have the ability to overthrow their military just as has been done eslewhere. They have chosen not to.
The Jews in WWII benefitted by our entry into the war, but we were not there for them. So that subject is off the point. It's a different topic.
In this case, SikUvTheRite isn't far off the mark. Our military is to be used for the common defense. Starting a war in another country is not defense, it is offense. We have seen too much of those middle eastern countries living in the way they have for centuries. There is no real interest in having the type of society we have. To force that on them, we would have to kill off all of thier religious leaders or clerics, and the rest of their society that follows their religious beliefs. Besides, how do you force freedom on someone?
We are forcing our ways on them by killing and being killed, and making mortal enemies in the process, even if you separate off the religious issue.
And as SikUvTHeRite says, there has been way too much money spent on not trying to win a war. Had a small portion pf that been spent here on our borders, we would have had state of the

Oh, my Congressman told me, in his D.C. office, that Congress was blatantly lied to under oath. They were told that this was to be a two month offensive at most to get the WMD's and maybe get rid of Saddam.

I've always heard that saying the other way around - The best offense is a good defense.

Where is our defense? Our borders are wide open, our universities are flooded with foreigners (many of whom drop out and stay - in violation of their student visas), our national guard units are overseas filling in for our thinly stretched military. Did our port security really get turned over the the United ARAB Emirates, as Bush planned?

Notice how, again, this issue has been forgotten only one month later?? Did they ever take that vacation?

Hmmm - very interesting.

But we're a long way from bringing our troops home. In fact, I'd say exactly a year and a half more to go!

Update:

YES, they ARE taking that vacation still.

Of course, it's not on the news anymore.

And, apparently, not listed high enough in this blog list to get any more comments!

I still think when they go on that vacation, we pack up the troops and head home.

Whadyya say to that?

Sick of the extreme right wing profiteers commandeering this country putting profits ahead of people. I'm old enough to remember when the government represented the people, not just the wealthiest of the wealthy. But that doesn't mean I don't love my two cute little Fox Terriers and all doggies! But we all need to have some fun every now and then, in the face of a continuing and harrowing threat from the extremists and fanatics to take our freedom and our money as they force their agenda on all of us. We need to take our country back, and we can have fun doing it! Life under Obama will just be more fun - no more hangups about prayer in schools or burning flags, we'll just get on with life! Here's hoping we don't make yet another four year mistake - More of the Same Pain McCain, or Obama, we'll choose, and live with the decision for four more years. I think the choice is clear, don't you?
