9/11/06... the fifth anniversary of one of the worst days in American History. What a day to start a blog! I'll never forget that morning. When I heard it, what I thought and how I felt. I was on the way to a video shoot at a local production company and was listening to the radio. At first, I, as probably most of you, thought it was just a horrible accident. Then there were reports of a plane hitting the second tower and I knew it was something more. It was numbing and I was in a daze the rest of the day... but glued to television sets, radios, the computer, anywhere I could get more information. I cried by myself, with my family and with the rest of the nation. What about today?? Though I hate to admit it, I'm not as eager to fly and I'm afraid to let my kids travel . My oldest is in highschool and he's been invited to study abroad. Do I let him go?? Is it safe?? I guess we need to live our lives as we did before or else the terrorists have gained some small victory!

Hi Sandy,

I am going back to Europe in February, and I am rather excited, I have been abroad 9 times within the past 5 year's, and I felt safe enough and do still enjoy going to Europe.

Sandy, I miss you at 5 o'clock. I always make sure that I am home by 6:00 to get that always smiling news face. (Mandy's OK but I got used to 2 hours of Sandy.) LOL

I anchor the 6 p.m. newscast and love being a part of the Fox 2 News Team. When I'm not anchoring the news, I'm trying to keep up with my two teenaged sons. (All the warnings about teenagers are true!) Just kidding, boys! I feel very fortunate to have such great kids... including my two step-daughters. My wonderful husband, who's also in the biz, is extremely talented and supportive of everything I do. I'm a huge animal lover. I have two dogs, a horse and a cockatiel. But, as a kid my pets included rabbits, goats, a racoon and a skunk! (I grew up in the Ozarks). I've traveled quite a bit, met with some famous celebrities and even been to a goat roping or two, so we have lots to blog about!
