We officially have frozen precipitation here in the Weldon Spring/Cottleville area. Sleet/frozen rain/snain, whatever you want to call it. It’s pinging on the windows, driveway, etc.
Wonder how long it will be until the school busses start bringing kids back home. Glad mine never left!
Out here in the Francis Howell School District it has been announced that school will not be cancelled today, despite the fact that the temperature is exactly 32 degrees outside with steady rain that will soon change over to more nasty stuff.
I know the schools don't like to cancel because they lose funding, but if they close before getting four hours in, won't they be wasting the taxpayers' money? It seems crazy to me that when it's this obvious that it's going to get bad out later they go ahead and have it.
It's not a call I would want to be responsible for, and I don't envy the folks who have to make this decision, but with 90 square miles in our district, and much of that in rural areas, it would seem that erring on the side of caution would be the way to go.
What do you think?
