I WAS ON ONE OF MY FAVORITE SITES WIKIPEDIA. AND FOUND OUT THAT ST. LOUIS COUNTY IS THE SECOND COUNTY IN THE COUNTRY THAT HAS AS MANY CITIES AS IT DOES. ALLEGHANNY COUNTY IN PA. HAS THE MOST ABOVE 101 CITIES.

IS IT POSSIBLE THE COUNTY COULD BECOME SMALLER?

IS IT A GOOD IDEA FOR THE CITY TOO REUNITE WITH THE COUNTY?

Yes to both questions. If the city and county would reunite it could solve many problems. If some smaller towns in the county would join together they could form a larger tax base and provide better services. A good example is Wildwood. Look how much better it is since they joined a bunch of small towns together, the redevelopment in that area is amazing.
Now, if we could just convince the towns to give up their own little slice of the pie.LOL

The county would be taking on a great deal of the problems of the city if they united. One question I have is "Do County residents pay any taxes for the St. Louis Zoo?"
Are people aware that the Special School District serves only County students, but not the City students?
Also, I believe that St. Louis City is the only city in the Nation that is not part of a surrounding county. How much would it truly cost the county to incorporate the city? Isn't it due?

I find this funny, I am in Valley Park, and if I were to walk outside I would be in Manches...Twin Oaks; if I turned around I would be in Fenton. I don't see the need for so many "towns". I could see these "towns" as areas of St. Louis kind of like Chicago and NY. Anyways it would be too late and silly to change now..especially if they had to chop names.

If St. Louis City and St. Louis County joined together as one, then there wouldn't be that problem with where police officers have to live. I'm not sure about any other of the jobs that would be affected or not.

The city of St. Louis drew the lines in 1876 and its been down hill since then.

If any of you think that those little towns people who are elected will give up their Theifdom dream on. Example: Overland Ann Poisner(sp)those little municipalities make small people into kings or queens! it gives men and women a badge in their little town who if tried to gain employment in another larger police dept would fail the written test.

The debate of joining the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County has been in existence for years. I live in the City and do not like the idea. I want to keep my corruption local and a few miles from my home!! If they were joined could we in the City then establish our own mini cities? Cool! My view is that it is working leave it alone. All those little cities as corrupt as some are, are part of Americana. Anyone can buy land and establish their own little one road town. What would you name your town or mini city?

Yeah I think Valley Park (V.P.) is a part of the county, but still too many neighboring "towns".

I AGREE WITH FIREMAN. I BELIEVE THE SMALLER TOWNS WOULD FIGHT FOR THEY'RE PIECE OF THE PIE. AND ALMOST ALL OF THEM CORRUPT. EXAMPLE IF YOU WERE TO DRIVE DOWN NATURAL BRIDGE BETWEEN GOODFELLOW AND I-170 YOU WILL RUN INTO 8 OR 9 CITIES. AND MOST OF THEM HAVE THEY'RE OWN POLICE DEPT. I GREW UP IN THAT AREA ABD I CAN TELL YOU FLAT OUT IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY. NOTHING HAPPENS OVER THERE!!
