OK Bloggers and Bloggets what's the deal with these teens who keep late hours walking the streets like vampires after midnight? Parents if you have an under age teenager, is it possible that you can keep better monitoring on them. Our teens are getting into to much trouble and during the school year when school is out, a lot of our teens don't make it back to school sadly, due to crimes. This is a fact mainly in our city and low income areas. But we as parents and citizen of concern, care for all teens no matter where they live. We need laws to be enforced that keep our under age teens off the streets late nights. I was driving through the city of St. Louis north side and central west end as well as north county near Chambers Rd. Young children averaging from 7years old to 16 years of age, all they were doing was walking the streets, being loud and outrages. But it's really sad because our children are lost without a clue. They need something to do and unless parents get involved with their children/teens we face a really bleak and empty future. It's sad to think our future lie in the hands of children that sit awake all night with the night stars wasting talent and times doing nothing but hanging out. Don't get me wrong bloggers and bloggets, it's nothing wrong with handing out. But when I was young handing out was safe and as fun as we made it. But we also respected the night light. We respected those older than us rather one or twenty-one we honored that. Yes I know things change, but the change don't have to be bad. Parents need to teach their children respect for themselves and others this is the only way. Curfews for teens should be enforced all over this city. The same in Ladue as in Pagedale or any other city. What are our law enforcers being paid to do? We need stronger laws for curfews for our teens all over.

When I was a teen, my curfew was 11 pm and I hated it, but now I am grateful. I believe that curfew saved my life. I have several friends that had no curfew and never made it to graduation because they died in accidents of some sort. Without a curfew, I would have been with them. Most that did not have a curfew were promiscuous and had an abortion or two under their belt. My mom always said that the bad stuff happens after midnight and I used to counter with so does the best stuff. I was always so upset with her because I thought I was missing out on something. Well I cant think of anything I missed back then that was worth being dead now for. My poor mom, I sure gave her grief over keeping me safe.

Have a crowd of pre-teen (under 13) kids that I have seen out at 11PM skateboarding in front of the Schunucks and Blockbuster.

I feel sorry for them. Their parents care so little about them that they dont care enough to make sure they are home late at night.

Aside from the danger of strangers they also have the dangers of being hit by a driver not expecting to find them skating around a parking lot at midnight.

If you kid is under 16 and still "hanging out" in from of the Blockbuster on skateboards at 11pm then you are a crappy bad parents and should have to account for it. Its negligence plain and simple.

Oh - but I bet mom and dad will say its ok because the all have cell phones. The electronic babysitter to the rescue.
If they need help they can just call right?

Welcome to blogging San's.
Kid's gone wild. Why becuase parent's don't bother with them anymore and they want to be their friend instead of a parent. They don't realise they can be both.

WOW! IneedUrHelp I am happy you listened because if you hadn't, I wouldn't have had this pleasure to hear your personal testimony of the importance of life and obedience. Thanks for the post. And yes many parents don't know or care where their children are and i too feel sorry for them as well. And for sure, parents don't bother with them they just lay and stray like homeless animals. SAD! SO SAD!

It's quite a bit different than the days of growing up on the farm.... We would stay out at all hours of the night except for school nights but we would fish or ride our horses into the woods and camp or hang out in the barn all night and playping pong in the hay loft...... Of course there were a couple of good dogs hanging with us to alert of any danger..... Most kids these days are still good kids.... It's just not safe for them to hang on the streets in the city..... Before you put a label on all the 13 year olds, take the time to get to know a few...... Remember the song......

"Old Man Take A Look At My Life"..... I'm a lot like you were......

Well that's understandable your life on the farm, with chic and moos heehaws and late night porch singing blues. but living on a farm and in a big city are a BIG Differences. But we understand all teens are not like us, we bloggers and bloggets are blogging about those who are out late night doing other things besides fishing and wishing on a star. But every bloggers and blogget view is cool though. :}

What were they doing?

The ones walking the streets that were under age 17 were 'holding' the drugs because as juveniles, if they're caught holding, they walk away with a slap on the wrist.

The ones over 17 were selling the drugs and collecting the money.

And all the sales aren't to locals in the neighborhood. There are a lot of kids from the burbs, even here in fashionable west county, that go down there to get their drugs.

The other reason law enforcement doesn't put an end to it is because of asset forfeiture which has made law enforcement one of the biggest 'dope addicts' going. Right now if they put someone out of business for good, the asset seizures are gone. If they arrest a dealer every 3 months and confiscate say $25K from him every time....that's a nice chunk of change to buy new toys with.

Chickenkiller AWESOME point of view. So the end result is live with it or move to another planet. Huh! It's just messed up the way America has allowed stupidity to rule.

I felt sorry for the kids in the town where I used to live. They tore down the batting cages, miniature golf, and skating rink so Lowes could build a store right next to Home Depot. Then they'd get chased off for riding their bikes and skateboards in the parking lot. No wonder why suburban kids just want to stay inside and play video games.

SANO - It's not just a point of view - it's how the system actually works. You're not going to see eradication of drug dealers until we force our congress and legislature to change some of the laws regarding asset forfeiture.

If you haven't guessed by now the object of government is collecting cash, not serving the citizens. It runs the gamut from red light cameras, speed traps to enforcing the drug laws and cashing in big time from things like the tobacco lawsuits where corporations were raped for millions and the dollars were squandered by public officials on their pet projects.

stlchamps06,

GOOD FOR YOU! You sound very mature for 16. The fact that you appreciate your parents, is excellent too!

I kept close tabs on both my kids and thankfully they are both grown and never got into trouble, I know there were times when they hated me, but they now understand.

Chicken, your right on about the under 17 crowd. Unfortunately, most of those with the drugs are carrying weapons and shooting to kill. That leads to felonies with can then lead to certification to stand trial as adults! It gets them off the streets for awhile, but when released, they are even more angry towards society. The vicious cycle continues.....

With capital punishment dished out on a timely basis, it does cease being a problem.

I'm SANO THE CAT created to help remind children to just SA-NO to crimes and to promote safety for our animals as well. I am also someone trying to live life before life is all gone. Love people, animals and fried chicken, sweet potatoes and trees. But I don't like to eat trees, but with the high cost of things these days, I'm not sure... These trees around here might make a tasty soup.
