I think we should look at the use of cloning to help save animal species that are in danger of extinction.I know the are a lot of obstacles to over come.Such as Money,Longivity of a cloned animal's
life expedience,Ability to breed or inter-breed with non cloned species and produce a hybrid.Regardless it would help near extinct species survive. What do u think?

Rosie,

while I like your idea one thing comes to mind right from the begining. Who are we (mankind) to think that we have any right to interfear in nature. Whether it is the creation of a cloned species or the culling of wolf packs to protect Caribou. The fact of the matter is the only thing that we should be worried about is living in peace with the natural world. Stop our harmfull practices and let nature fix what we have screwed up. Thats my 2 cents
I would love to beable to fix our mess but we created it are we really the ones to try to fix it?

Cloning is an interesting idea for preservation of species, however, there has been some studies done that demonstrate that a cloned organism often exhibits genetic defects (or recessive traits) that are not expressed in the original species. That is the theory of why older people cannot tolerate injuries/illness like they did when they were younger (aka, "loss-of-organic reserves"). The theory is that our bodies regenerate our cells and with each regeneration, there is genetic weaknesses that come about from such regeneration. If we can prevent such losses, the cloning process will become more successful.

If you allow a government to play God, aren't you doing what Hitler wanted to do? Like the lady that cloned her dogs. She probably wouldn't have want to clone it if it was a stupid lazy and useless animal, but since it was a good pet, then she decided to spend money for cloning. Who decides which people are fit for cloning? Who gets to play Hitler?

NO!! Not a good thing! People should stop playing GOD! There is only ONE GOD! Remember that story in the bible when they tried to build a tower to heaven? There is a lesson to be learned in that.

We have played God for many years. Heart transplants, blood transfusions, cataract surgery, insulin for diabetics like me.
All natural conditions that we treat or cure. Is not saving a life a type of God playing?
He gave us the knoweledge to do these things.
And we are talking here of cloning animals, not humans. According to Gods word he gave us the animals to use.
I say yes. To save a species on the verge of extinction, why not?

Saving a life is a Godly thing, but we are not playing God. You are right, we are using the tools God has blessed us with.

There are some things we need to leave solely to God. Like that tower they wanted to build to heaven. It is not our place to recreate, reanimate, etc. That's an abomination.

There is only one God and he is a jealous God to the point he only wants us to serve him and rcognize him as the ONE TRUE GOD. There is a commandment that says, thou shall not worship any other God. (Something like that). That means statutes made of stone that some pray to or PEOPLE playing God.

But if the animals are ours to use, how can that be playing God. As far as cloning people I have to agree with you. I do not want another me walking around.
But then again, if I need a new heart, I would like them to be able to clone individual organs. No chance of rejection. Whoo boy, this could be a round and round arguement could it not! Good subject RosieC!

God didn't let a lot of our animals become extinct or almost become extinct .It is mankind who is causing this to happen by disrupting our environment, cutting down our forest over fishing, miss use of what was put here for our use. An lot just for profit and greed! What is happing goes far beyound natural selection.

I agree to a certain extent. I think alot of it is for profit and greed. Look at the safari's when they cut off the gorilla's hands, rhino's horn, etc. GREED!

The animals were put here for our use other than cloning. The bible doesn't say anything about cloning, but, we all know its an abomination. Besides, we should all know our limit. We shalln't try to justify what is wrong, but try to improve what is wrong. Isn't that what we teach our children?

If we are going to clone - do me. I need someone to help get everything done that expected of me. If I had another me I could parent 24/7 and work 24/7 and keep my house clean! No cloning men though.. that would just make more work ... ;)

Species go extinct every day.

Now if we could only come up with a way to make liberals extinct! Nope, can't do that since we don't have a federal program to save them yet!
