to swim or not to swim

Typically area swimming pools open this holiday weekend, but who can get in the water? it's usually frigid. Going siwmming or not?

I am going if the weather is nice, but it is in my in-laws backyard and they have had the solar cover on the pool for a few weeks. Hopefully the water is warm!

Don't do much swimming.But the grandkids have already been to the river.As luvthykids said they don't care if they turn blue.Big River is cold in the summertime with all them springs but thier parents take them so they have to pay the Dr.Bills if the kids get sick.They haven't gotten sick yet tho.

Jeanette. The Big River is MY playground! It's a wonderful place.

My boys love the water. They learned how to swim in the river. They got in the water a month ago, I'm positive they'll be swimming this weekend! LOL!

I love swimming in rivers, but PLEASE tell me where Big River is nice enough to swim in. In St. Francois County that is the nastiest, dirtiest, trashiest water around (yet I do see people swim in it every day in the summer, yuck!). Maybe it's cleaner further north of here, although I don't know where all the yuck goes if it's cleaner up there since Big River actually runs south to north.

My kids swam in our pool yesterday. It was certainly hot enough outside but the pool water temp was only 72. I got in for about one minute, long enough to scream "holy smokes" or something like that and get out. I am a big baby though. Our solar cover has been on too but only for a few days.

We've had our pool open since Mother's Day weekend. With the solar cover the water is 84 degrees, nice. I swam this morning.

Not sure, but I guess if the opportunity presented itself and I was feeling a little adventurous you bet I would jump in fo sho!
