Does falling snow make you feel like a kid again, or do you dread it like the plague?

Like a little kid. Makes me think of those mornings tuning into 1120 KMOX at 05:00 to hear my gradeschool or highschool being called out as closed.

I remember those days. Listening to those "Bistate...going my way" commercials and listening to Rex Davis on KMOX go through the parade of Saints...those were the days. I doo have to say that as I get older, I like the snow less and less...and much prefer the warmer days of spring. I'm done with winter after New Years day.

I'd set the alarm just a little bit early, listen for the Star Spangled Banner and then right into the schools. Highschool was good - Bishop DuBourg was at the beginning, but the parade of saints was a killer. I went to Saint John the Baptist gradeschool (on Delor) and there was always Saint Johns on Manchester. "The following schools are all closed...Saint James the Greater, Saint John the Baptist on Delor.." that's when the radio would go off and I'd go to bed.

SNOW is a nasty word. I dread/abhor/want to cry when I hear we are getting snow. like anyone else I loved snow as a kid, now that I am an adult, my idea of winter is nothing below 50 degrees. and before all you tell me to move, I LOVE ST LOUIS, therefore I will put up with winter in order to continue to live in this great city!!!!!!!!!!

joe, I agree that sledding on art hill is a blast, but stop and think of all the idiots who can not cope with a dusting let alone a foot or so. the mad dash for milk and bread alone will drum up business for you....

I feel like a kid ... growing up in California, snow was an amusement, something we *visited*.

When it snowed in the mountains, parents packed the kids in the car and would drive up until they found enough snow to play in.

Once there, you pile snow on top of the car (to prove you had "gone to the snow"), and play until everyone is cold and wet.

On Monday morning, everyone asked if you "went to the snow" over the weekend!

Now, watching snowflakes when you first get into your car is fun, because you can look at the structure of the snowflakes before they melt.

As long as it melts in a doy or two it's OK ... but when it lingers ... arghhh ...

I don't mind snow, I just don't like to have to drive in it. My vehicles usually go through the snow pretty well, but you never know when you come up on a stop sign or light, if someone else will have trouble stopping, or if they will start sliding or hydroplaning toward you. When the snow starts melting, then freezes back up, and we get that "black ice", then it can get treacherous.

Snow doesn't really bother me, I can take it or leave it. But the first snow is always wonderous and beautiful and makes me feel like a kid again. If I had my druthers though....that first snowfall would come on Christmas Eve, accumulate about 6 inches, remain pristine through the holiday and then melt away the day after Christmas before it had a chance to get filthy on the sides of the roads and just become a nuisance.
