Hey folks!  I know Fox 2 has a diverse group of people blogging, from many different backgrounds, so I thought it might be a good resource for getting job leads.

My background in a nutshell:  I have an Associates Degree in Control Systems from Ranken Technical College.  Basically I learned how to control a manufacturing process through PLCs and instrumentation.  I can perform electrical work.  Next, I have a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Technology from SIU Carbondale.  This was a management oriented program designed for use in manufacturing organizations, although the skills can be applied in many different industries.  This degree focused on lean manufacturing concepts, total quality management, and problem solving.

My goal: to work as an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician or as a  supervisor in a manufacturing plant.  I am pretty well open to anything that will allow me to develop my skills and really be able to contribute to the goals of the organization.

Write a comment if you have any ideas or if you know of any openings where you work, or even if you know but you don't work there.

I am avidly searching several job websites and scouring the papers for opportunities.  Hopefully my blogging endeavor will serve me well!

Thanks a bunch!

Get the websites of the largest manufacturers in St. Louis (or other area) and make application to them. Make sure your resume is perfect. You also may have a good result by making application through temp services agencies such as Weststaff or others. Many of the corporations today do temp to hire. This allows them a reduction in the training dollars spent.

Resume's are a dime a dozen.... You need to pound the pavement and walk into the places that you are applying.... I would never hire anybody based on just a resume..... First Impressions are the most important.....

Rumor has it,Conoco Phillips Refinery may be doing some hiring. Probably primarily hourly/blue collar positions, but most of their staff/salary positions are the young, motivated, educated types. I've worked for their Credit Union for almost 20 years (most of those being Shell)you hear alot of the "hear say" on paydays, lol. It's worth a try.

Take any job you can find in manufacturing to get your foot in the door. Work yourself up the corporate ladder. You can show them you know your stuff rather than just saying you know it. If you can't dazzle them with your brillance baffle them with your _ _ _ _ -_ _ _ _.

I enjoy floating, traveling, attending the drag races at Gateway, reading, and sleeping and I am quite organized. My pet peeves are the misuse of grammar and misspelling. It seems to be rampant among the blogs. Proofread people!!
