The New York Times has an interesting article on the impact of warming temperatures on duck hunters. It is focused on hunters in Missouri. Missouri is widely regarded as one of the best duck hunting states. Whether you agree or not with global warming or climate change or any of that, you can't argue with the facts that conditions are changing and have been changing for several years. Is this one long trend? Is this another dust bowl type pattern? Or is this something more permenant?

I tend to fall in line with Dave Murray's expertise and position.

Here are two videos from Sunday & Monday duck hunts in NW Missouri near Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge.

The winters are milder here than 20-50 years ago. It's a trend. Trends last as long as they do then change.

Ice melts back to where no man has seen it and folks freak out like we are going to boil. Some areas get drier and folks think the whole world will dry up. These are what come with these trends. We see change. Change is a constant in the natural world.

I personally like the warmer world versus what could and will happen some day. Another ICE AGE, which we will be absolutely powerless to stop. Sure some folks will suffer during these warmer times. That's just what happens during change. Anticipate and try to get away the best you can.

What will we do when the ice comes back? It will. I think that's a problem we would rather not think about. That could truly threaten the whole population. This warming is gonna look like nothing (which it is) compared to that.

Dangit, I had a nice long post about what my observations are on the effects of climate change on hunter success and waterfowl ecology and because i wasn't logged in before I submitted it(fox tech gurus, please fix this!), it didn't post and it got scrapped :(

Anyways, it was too long to try and start over, so I'll just ask you how your season is going so far. How's your season going so far? :)

Here's one bull of a greenhead from a limit on 12-3-07. He's at the taxidermist as we speak!
