Last Post 9 days, 12 hours Ago

Lent is a few weeks away and we're bringing back "Fish Fry Friday's" to FOX-2 News in the Morning.  Want your favorite fish fry place featured on the air?  Here's what you do:

-respond in this blog..let me know:

location, unusual menu items, prices most importantly...

what are some neat tidbits about your church, VFW hall or eatery?  Is there someone wonderful and unusual working in the kitchen?  how long have they been there helping with the fish fry.  Is there something great about the school or the sports teams there?

is there a great story behind your fish fry place...fire, adversity, etc???

The best, most unusual and fun items get on the air...Thanks.

Randi

While we're out of the Thanksgiving season, Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville puts on a FREE traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner (Turkey, Dressing, Cranberries, vegetables, desert, etc.) for anyone who wants to come in and eat. While the poor and homeless come to mind with free food, there are a number of people who are alone and would not otherwise have anyone with which to share a dinner.

Fish - Shrimp - and Frog legs:
St. Johns Evangelical United Church of Christ (314 892-0848) located at I-55 and South Lindbergh is hosting two friday night fish dinners this Lenten season. We "Jump" into our first dinner on "Leap Day", February 29th, by offering frog legs, as well as our past favorites of fried jack salmon, fried and baked cod and shrimp. All eat-in or carryout dinners are served with hush puppies, cole slaw, french fries or spaghetti, bread, home-made desserts and beverage. The complete meal is $8.00 for adults. The second dinner will be held on March 14th. Only two dinners are offered during Lent, we emphasize quality versus frequency. Dinners are served from 4-7pm. This year in addition to the meals we are offering items for silent auction. On February 29th, auction items will primarily be focused on fish or fishing items (rods & reels, lures, etc). The auction on March 14th will feature Easter baskets for auction. At both dinners, "bragging rights" tables will be set up for indivduals to "show off" photos of their fish catches. Come for dinner and enjoy the fun too! Mark your calendars February 29th and March 14th, 4-7pm.

hi randi-
buffalo park in maryville, illinois(an american legion post i believe, havn't been there for a while)has a great fish fry. last i knew it was every friday all year long. for three and a half years i lived there with my then boyfriend and we went there a lot! then when my boyfriend became my husband we had our wedding reception there. we continued living in maryville for several years and went there often. that was a long time ago and we are no longer married but the memories made there are great as i still think the world of him.
i'm sorry i don't have their complete menu or their prices, but i do know they still have fish on fridays. inside or outside seating available and you can purchase drinks at either. and a small lake there too.
