According to radar estimates some places just N of Brownsville on the southern edge of the eye have already received 20+ inches of rain!

Many have wondered where the honeybee has gone. I just stepped on one again today (ouch) and I think I have part of the answer. I looked out and saw all of that clover in our yard, with the bees buzzing through it, and thought, "That stuff has to go!"
We are really proud of our lawns. Clover is not the favorite plant of the homeowner, but bees love it. My yard is covered in clover and I have bees by the bucketload back here. Maybe our preoccupation with getting rid of some of their favorite foliage has led to their demise around here.
What do you all think?

I can't believe some of these dewpoint levels. We are at 50 or so and
mid 50's are all the way down into central Mississippi and central
Alabama. This just is not normal for this time of year. Most times a
cold front come through this time of year we are lucky to drop our
dewpoint back into the upper 50's. 60 is considered dry here. Lower and
mid 50's and upper 40's, which were seen last evening in places, are
just silly. It's like living in Montana.
This has caused the surfaces to dry out considerably. We may have had a lot of rain but warm temps and low dewpoints make deserts.

We have the first appearance, that I know of, of 70 degree dewpoints. That seems to be the first sign of summer, in this part of the world, for me.

Looks like some of those levee breaks are bringing the Mississippi down in NE MO. Canton, Quincy, and Hannibal all had sharp drops from 7AM till 11AM today. All were expected to still be rising. This is what happened in '93 around here. As the crest approached several levees failed and protected others from doing so.

When you see us hitting under 50 on dewpoints this time of year one thing is for sure. The "summer pattern" is not set up yet. The battle line of change has just moved. The line will come back again and the big question is if it will retreat well to the NW and N, or get stuck here again. Time will tell.

...I have to think there will be some kind of shower development this afternoon. I don't know what upper level temps are like but it's hard to be this cool and clear this time of year without popping something. Where can I get upper level temp maps?

Looks like N Madison county and N Bond county are under the gun over the next couple of hours. They seem to be on a warm front now and that is where the heaviest rain is forming within this next complex.

I'm here in Hecker waiting for the deluge. Some areas just west of here have topped 3 inches in precip over the last two hours. These are fairly slow moving storms and tend to regenerate on their flank leading to repetitive storms over a couple hour period. Have my rain gauge out and will report back at 5:30 or so.

There seems to have been some training and it looks like it may continue for a bit over Randolph county. Seems there is a hot spot for development just SW of there and they are getting repeated storms over that area. rainfall amounts should exceed 3 inches in some spots shorty and more is possible. I would imagine some kind of warning will be issued shortly.

The next couple of hours could be very dicey. There have been 50+ wind gusts in SW IL and steady 35 to 45 is common. With trees in full leaf many branches are in danger and if this goes on long enough some uprooting is possible with stronger gusts. The reason for that is the super saturated soil.
