Hey guys,

Anyone out there got a great story about a father-son relationship involving baseball... perhaps your own son or your own father.

I'm intereted because it might relate to a story I'm working on.  Let me know if you think of something good.

How about mother and son? I use to coach my sons little league softball team. He started playing when he was 5 years old. He couldn't catch and he couldn't hit, but when I was coach everyone played in every game. We practiced everyday after summer camp, and played on Saturday mornings in Forest park. On the final game of the season. My son got up to bat. Everyone was rooting him on, even though he had never hit the ball. They pitched the first pitch and it was a strike. The second the same. By this time the whole softball league on both teams were rooting him on. The pitch came and he swung the bat, and actually made connection with the ball. He ran straight for third base. We were all screaming run to first. The coach at third base took him by the hand and ran the bases with him. They played it off as if they couldn't get him out. I was so proud of that team that year, as they allowed us to win the Championships, when they helped my son with his first infield home run.
What a year that was.

Well, I dont know if this is a great story but,It was the last year for the old Busch Stadium and I made a promise to my son.He wanted to go just to see the stadium, but I suprised him.It ended being my father,my brother, and my son and I going to one of the last games there.Just to sit there and think of the memories that we had and the one my son experienced was priceless.

I was thinking the same thing Cuteypops. Why does it have to be father/son, why not any combination of parent/child?

The Cardinal family knows no gender bias, lol.

This doesnt have any thing to do with father son relationship and baseball. But I didnt know where else to post this.

and it does have to do with baseball.

I saw your story this morning on the professor at SLU who is studying Cardinal fan behavior.

I couldnt believe you did this story!!
I have been trying to get ahold of someone in the media to help make my study public, just because I think it would be of great interest to the populous fans of Cardinal Nation.

I am a senior at UMSL majoring in anthropology and for my senior thesis I spent the last nine months studying cardinal fan behavior and sports spectatorship of Cardinal Fans at Busch Stadium and Pujols 5 Westport Grill. I have also handed out surveys and conducted interviews with Cardinal fans all over the United States.

I've been hanging out at Fox 2 since I was a kid, and my mom used to drag me to be in the audience at The Charlotte Peters show. Now they pay me to show up. Amazing. Even more amazing, I've been here now for 23 years. I'll keep you posted on what I'm working on, offer the occassional odd thought, and since I enjoy live theater and dining out (does it show?) when I see something or eat somewhere wonderful I'll tell you about it. My two dogs might offer an occassional comment as well. (that's Luca on the left, and Fanny, the little sassy one.) Let the blogging begin! Luca says "arf."
