Who am I kidding, right? I can't stop blogging, even though I'm moving out of town!

So I heard about a phone company that wants to playback 5 to 10-second advertising messages over your cell phone before you place any calls. They are hoping this service will in turn make cell phone calls free. It's an untapped area of advertising, yet has millions of alert ears. Mobile phones these days are more like handheld computers and consumers spend as much as eight to 10 hours a day talking, texting and using the Web on these devices, advertising becomes a viable form of subsidy.

I use my cell as my home phone. Sprint/nextel has good service in the areas I go and their plans aren't all that bad and nights always start at 7. Home phone is just one bill I don't really need.

We have a business & home line. If cell phones could be free I would get rid of the home line. The business cell phone I would still keep the way it is. I do believe you should a landline and at least one phone you don't have to plug into electric.

All other cell phones could become free ones. We would save on 5 cell phones we are currently paying for, my mom's, sister, mine, and two teenage children's. With the landline and cell we could save about $120 a month.

This poll isn't your way of finding the potential for another way to make "quick cash" for yourself, is it?

I notice so far it's about 50-50. Pretty much what I would expect. We live in a 50-50 nation right now. Right down the line.

But as a young capitalist, good luck on your chasing a dollar, wherever in the country it takes you next. After all, nothing is more important than making MORE MORE MORE, right?

I'm guess you're part of the Reagan generation. Working and making money were the only things to do that remained legal after his term in office. Many a young person was brainwashed to work work work for more more more under his regime.

I worked in digital media back in the mid and late eighties, print, audio and video. Very early digital video! Very crude! I still do a lot of work in digital audio, as I am a musician, and I'm still an MIS Director.

I could have made MUCH money had I really pursued it, but I chose something else.

I chose to enjoy my life.

Oh, I voted no, but I'll get you could guess that! If it were up to me, I'd ban all advertising - it's all lies, anyway.

I voted; sure, I'd listen to a 5 to 10 second ad prior to making a call, if it meant getting 100% FREE service -- including unlimited minutes. But this would get old sooner than later; and we all know damn well the 5-10 second limit would double in time; and instead of just one commercial we'd get several.

That would lead to the desire to want to not on only return to an ad-free cell phone experience -- that I pay for -- but a willingness to pay double what I had been paying just to get rid of all the damn ads and save myself the time to listen!

I use to own a cell phone, and a pager, and a land phone, and two business lines, and three computers -- all were on 24 x 7. I got rid of all of this crap, except for the cell phone and one desktop PC. And I dreammmmm of being able to ditch both of those.

I miss communications and business dealings and friendships carried out in person.

I'm on my cell phone frequently -- but never when driving. But it's the camera on the phone that I most like about it.

I am giving up my cell phone as soon as my contract is up. I hate contracts. I will get me a tracphone to use in emergencies and prepay the minutes and only use it in an emergency.

I hate to see you leave, you can always keep blogging here.

It seems stupid to me. I don't use my cell phone that often but when I do I don't want to listen to any ads. I see and hear enough ads as it is.

I don't want any commericals or ads !

I have 2 landline lines (1 for my computer, do not even know that number unless I look on phone bill) Plus, we all (4 of us) have cells)

The thing that scares me about this is that if I needed to call 911, would I be listening to a commercial while bleeding to death????

I would think 9-1-1 calls would go right through, but ya could you imagine hearing a re-fi ad while your house is burning to the ground?

My phone is used mostly for business and I would rather pay the fees for the service.
