Hearing reports today about officials finding six different types of prescription drugs in Heath Ledger's apartment made me think of this poll:

Biker40, no kidding.
I was wondering how one works for their dream career and a family, gets it, then gets depressed about life. I'm not joking, or making light of depression. What drives a person into it? I mean, I've had times when I felt down, but nothing long term.

I take absolutely no medication, although I do get on vitamin kicks but they don't last long. I just hate taking pills.

Depression can hit anyone. I don't think it matters how much money you have or where you live. I've had friends who I actually envied here and there and find out later they suffer from long-term depression. I never would have guessed. Rich or poor, I think depression is depression regardless of who you are. We don't know how he lived his day to day life and it's sad that many are saying " oh he had money and was a star how could he possibly be depressed?".

I've been taking Lovothyroxin since my mid 20s, for hypo-thyroidism.

I've been taking the following since December 2006, when I had my heart attack: a 325 mg aspirin, Lovastatin, Enalapril, and Metoprolol. I also took Plavix for a while, but I'm switching to a new cardiologist and my MD wants me to wait on that one since it has to be monitored so strongly and is so expensive.

I also take a 20mg Citalopram, which is a mild mood stabalizer.

Insofar as depression, MoHHS is correct. Depression knows no boundaries. Sure, people can have situational depression, say if a spouse or child dies, but the regular form of depression can hit anyone regardless of external factors.

Heath Ledger was on very few medications in the scheme of things, compared to others I know with depression. I feel for his family and their loss, no matter the reason for his death, accidental or suicide.

POB: Are you becoming a statistician? I just saw your questionaire on "mapping" and have since responded. J/K brother - you're doing a fine job and the survey is cool how you implant it into the blog. Keep up the good work ... go see Larry the Cable Guy in April!

I stick with the health food stores, red yeast of rice, lower cholestral, flex seed oil, omega oil. I have terrible allergies to almost any kind of medication, the worst being floride.

I only have one script med I take for my cholesterol. The bike riding and diet was not enough. Since my accident I also have to take two aspirin and and two multivitamin twice a day.

Yes Rosie I do take my meds but I am finding I either need better meds or more of these current meds or need to get off my med dependence LOL.

Hey Speedy how did you get my picture?

Oh I forgot one other important prescription. One week a month I talk with Dr. Jack (Daniels) on how to deal with women issues. Sometimes this involves living in a different part of the house (like the dungeon with my train set). LOL

I take no meds at all but that could change any day. Never know when they will find something wrong with you. I try not to put anything into my body if I don't have to.
And yes, you guys are right. Depression has no boundries and can hit anyone at any time. It affects different people different ways. I will never judge anyone for being depressed for I am not walking in their shoes. And having money has it's own problems. But money will not solve personal problems. But right now wish I had some to solve my other problems. If you need meds, by all means take them.

Let's see, other than multi-vitamins and aspirin, the only meds I have in the house are the Heartguard heartworm pills for my dogs.
Plenty of cold beer though....does that count?
