There are songs that we encounter at certain times in our lives that impact us so greatly, you can say they really changed your life.

Maybe you broke up with someone or you asked someone out or you made an important decision that was inspired by hearing a song. What are your Top 5?

My Five (in no particular order):

"Makes Me Wonder" by Maroon 5: Learned I had a long-lost older sister

"You're Still the One" by Shania Twain: Got dumped for the first time

"Greased Lightning" from Grease: My mom battled breast cancer (and won... twice!)

"Crash" by Dave Matthews: Fell in love

"Daughters" by John Mayer: Lived in Washington, D.C.

These might not be my ALL TIME favorites, but it's what I can think of now.

1. "Turn Your Lights Down Low" - Lauryn Hill: Had a romantic kiss on Negril beach with a native from the island in the Jamaican sunset. We still talk from time to time.

2. "Don't Want To Miss A Thing" - Aerosmith: It's my ode to my son.

3. "Leaving You" - Brandy: a very hard break up. Gave me strength.

4. "Love Me Babe" - Murphy Lee: I don't want to explain...

5. "Love" - Musiq Soulchild: It's timeless for me. Makes me think about lots of people.

I really don't know where to begin.

Well I will have to say as a very small girl 1st was all the songs in the Walt Disney movie Cinderella.

2nd was Over The Rainbow from Wizzard Of Oz by Judy Garland.

3rd would be I Want To Hold Your Hand and that was when I was 10 years old and The Beatles hit America and that really changed my life.

4th The Surpremes

5th In The Year 2525. And
Insence and Peppermints by Strawberry Alarm Clock.

And Many Many More. I could go on and on.

Then Jimmie Hendrix

Then White Bird by Beautiful Day.

I can think of one..."Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers. Brett, the love of my life since 7th grade, was overseas in Desert Storm and I missed him so much. I started learning the song on the piano and sent him a cassette tape of myself playing it. Once, he got to go into the United Arab Emirates for a night in a nice hotel. He sat down to dinner that night, and in piped "Unchained Meloldy" throughout the dining room. It was our song after that! Brett then died, and I always think of him when I hear it!

The entire White Album. It showed me what a good tight group of musicians could do. I learned the guitar because of it.

Hero's David Bowie
Us and Them Pink Floyd
A Boy Named Sue Johnny Cash
Paranoid Black Sabbath

These songs' impact was mainly correlated to a specific time in personal history... memorable, though not "life changing".(In chronological order).
#1 "I Wanna Hold Your Hand"-Beatles
#2 "One"-Three Dog Night...played constantly at Green Acres swimming pool(Fenton) when I was 12-13 yrs. old-just good times when coming of age.
#3 "Crocodile Rock"-Elton John...Another "coming of age" era-was 15, away from home for the first time, 1st date, 1st kiss.
#4 "Freebird"-Lynyrd Skynyrd...Always last song played at HS dances (Yes, we had live bands back then!)
#5 "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing"-Aerosmith...My boyfriend's song for me when found out he was terminal. (Late '03)

Hey, Mr. Wildflower! Have you heard of the band, "Shinedown" doing their cover of "Simple Man"? No disrespect to the original, it's always been one of my favorites! (I believe Shinedown even got special permission to do it)

Shinedown is also a north Florida / Georgia border band. They do an awesome version! Brent Smith, the singer, has an amazing voice!

You oughta check 'em out!
