I've spent several days in Seattle, WA this week on business. While in Seattle I have enjoyed watching the various news networks here in the west. All I can say is that they don't hold a candle to Fox 2 News! The Fox News (KCPQ) network in Seattle is nice, but the news set is very outdated, their overall broadcast is very slow, and quite simply, they look as if they are bored to be at work. I found myself really missing Kevin, Margie, John P., Randi, Glenn, Tim , John B. and Monica. They have absolutely no "air coverage" (no helicopter coverage) on any station that I've seen. But one very interesting thing with the Fox network in Seattle, on the morning news they have 3 anchors - 1 man and 2 women. I can't say I liked it or disliked it, but it was something new to me.
But it's not just the Fox network - it's all the networks in Seattle (Fox, ABC, CBS & NBC). It's what I call very slow, very dry, very boring coverage.
My hats off to all the St. Louis Media, but especially FOX 2! You're the best!!!

First, my thoughts and prayers are with those directly involved in the tragic accident on Hwy 40 yesterday. I pray for healing and understanding as you go through these tough days, weeks and months. I also think of the many firefighters, paramedics, police officers, doctors, nurses, and countless others who were involved and thank them for their selfless service to our community. You are to be commended.
When I learned that the driver of the semi may have been distracted by a cell phone, I was anything but surprised. While I own a cell phone, I don't use it when I drive. It's just too dangerous. I know that many of you will immediately post that it's not a distraction and that people should butt out of what goes on in their own vehicle, but two people are dead and many others seriously injured as the result of what? A cell phone.
Have you ever driven down the road and just taken a quick look to your right and to your left? It amazes me how dependent we are on that one little piece of technology. Granted, it has changed the world in a wonderful way and I am thankful to have mine, but to see that lives were lost because of something so trivial makes me think twice about them. I lived for 30 years of my life without a cell phone. True, it's hard to think of my life without it, but I managed to survive in my car without the cell.
I support those in our government who are looking at banning cell phones while driving. Those states who have already implemented this law have seen a reduction in accidents, specifically in accidents resulting in fatalities.
Before you start this blog fest, telling me how stupid I am and how people should mind their own business, I want you to take a minute to think of one thing...
How would have felt yesterday if the Missouri State Highway Patrol knocked on your door at home or came to your place of employment and told you that your husband or wife, son or daughter, grandmother or grandfather, best friend, whoever had been killed in an automobile accident and the cause of that accident was an inattentive driver distracted by a cell phone. If you're completely honest with yourself, you'd be irate, hurt, and saddened by such a fact. Think about it.

Last evening there was a new face on Fox2...JOHN BROWN. I haven't seen him on the air before. Is he new? I went to college with a John Brown who went on to become a television journalist. Just curious if it's the same guy.

I absolutely love MYFOXSTL.COM and Fox 2 news!
If
I had one gripe (perhaps more of a suggestion or request) about your
web page it's this...can the school closings PLEASE be moved to the
main page? It's such an important resource to parents and educators
during the winter months (and now with the heat). I know where to find
it, but for convenience sake it would be much more useful on the main
page.
(If you check out ksdk.com and kmov.com they list school closings on the main page.)
Just my two cents worth, but I hope that someone will seriously consider this request!
Have a great day! Stay cool!
