The Dark Knight - Movie Review

So, here it is. The long awaited Batman movie. The one that has gotten untold amounts of hype.

And the hype was well derved. This is undoubtedly the best comic book movie ever made, and the best movie of the year so far, out of the movies I've seen. To clasify this as a "comic book movie" or a "super herp movie" seems demeaning, because this is a movie with true depth that rises above any comic book adaptation. This movie is very, very dark. Even with a PG-13 rating, I would not reccomend taking a child under the age of ten to see it. I can easily see The Joker invading a child's nightmares after watching this movie.  

In a movie full of great performances, Heath Ledger steals the show as The Joker. He gives us one of the best villian performances of all time. He should definately get a nomination. The way he manages to combine a total psychotic creepiness with eerily comical moments is astounding. While Nicholson's portrayal was good, Ledger's performance outshines it in every way.

The Joker is not the only good thing in this movie. The movie is a very dramatically driven film. It is not non-stop action, and when the action is done, it is believable. It isn't over the top. The story is complex, but not complicated.

I could go on, but I don't want to get to long winded.

I was not a "follower" of Heath Ledger but was blown away by his performance...casting was done just right...special effects were great...and I agree with you it was believable and not over the top : )

It lived up to the hype..worth the wait...but it kills me they left it open so the Joker could come back...but not anymore...no one could replace him and the job he did!

Spoilers Following

I agree 14arocker. Though some actors could probably pull off a great imitation of Ledger's Joker (maybe Depp, or Daniel Day-Lewis), I don't think they will. It seems dishonorable to Ledger, and the magniicent performance he gave. I do think Two-Face could be back though. . .

my hub and kids went sunday nite, said there were NO seats left at the 7pm show. They LOVED it! said it was the best movie they had ever seen.

It is definately in my top ten, as of now. I'm seeing it again Thusday night, and pretty psyched about it.

Mutatis-Mutandis

My only other name that I have created is Dantumis_Tumasit. I am only active on one blogging name at a time. I created Dantumis_Tumasit when this blogging name was gagged, for reasons unclear to me. I was planning to stay on Dantumis_Tumasit, but now the password doesn't work, so I came back here. You should also note, Dantumis_Tumasit is an anagram of Mutatis-Muatndis. Some people figured it out. Anyways, thought I'd clear that up, sense some uninformed people on here seem to have this conspiracy theory that I have created a vast number of screen names in order to better spread my America hating agenda. Sorry, don't have time for that. I barely have time for this.
