Hey guys!  A lot of stores are opening up their layaways this Christmas season. Considering the economic crisis, this might help a lot of people.

Are you planning to use layaways this year? Have you done it before?
I've done it. My problem is waiting. I don't like to wait!
I've also left things in layaway because I forgot about it (duh, Vera!)

Anyway, let me know your layaway experience!

This could be either a very good thing or a very bad thing. IF you know your limits and stick to a budget then this is a godsent.

If your totally irresponsible with money then your wasting yours and the stores time. If you cant afford it then deal with it. Dont overdo it. Dont be greedy and just hord all this stuff in layaway and never buy it.

Back when walmart did it when I worked there..people would just grab up all these toys and clothes and at the last minute only take a little bit of it.... the whole time that stuff could have been sold to people that actually intended to pay for it.

Is that why stores stopped doing it? To much of their mechandise sitting in limbo?

I used lay away alot when our kid's were growing up. No so much in our later year's.
I like the option.
But I have seen people also put alot in layaway and then send it all back.
That is wrong.
You know your budget don't put it all in there if you know you aren't going to beable to pay.

In the early 70's when I worked at Venture lay a way started in the Summer....... With only 6 weeks people don't have much time to pay something off........ It will make a great place to hide the presents though......

Layaways always worked great for me when my daughter was in grade school. I always put her school clothes in layaway, and when I got them out, I started my Christmas shopping, and had it out by Dec.1st. I never put anything in that I was not sure I wanted! To me, What would be the purpose? Today, people use the charge card, and pay interest. I liked the $2. fee I paid, and never had a problem.

I think lay a way is great! We always use kmarts lay a way. That way I'm not tempted to give any present early & don't have to hide it at home.

I wish walmart would too!

I shop during the year and also have a christmas club with my bank. They take $6.50 out each week from my account and put it in the christmas club. It really adds up for those last minute gifts. I think I'm going to have them start putting $10 in each week for the next year

I grew up doing the layaway thing.

This year's 'economic times' have hit HARD at my house and I just cant afford the things I would normally do for my kids.

We always have food but the gifts this year will be some warm jammies and a little cash.
