I took Christian to a Cardinals game this weekend. Don't kill me, but I don't particularly care for baseball, BUT I thought it would be something neat to do with him.

I have to say, the whole adventure really was a blast and it didn't take more than 3 hours.

First, I decide to take the Metrolink over because he's always talking about "the train."

He really like that.
Once we got to the stadium, he was really excited when we got to the seats started to watch the game. While he jabbered on and asked what everybody was doing, I pulled out our lunch (didn't spend any money on food!) which consisted of hot dogs, chips, fruit cups and Juicy Juice. I liked watching him sit and eating his hot dog and really watching the baseball game. We got to see a couple of home runs too!

Well, about a half hour into the game, he said he was hot, which is what I expected to happen seeing as we were sitting right in the sun (hey, the tickets were free). So that was the perfect cue for us to leave and find the family pavillion.

I was very glad this was part of the stadium because kids get restless and need something else to do.  Well he had a great time running around with the other kids and climbing on the fake baseballs and gloves.

Then, there was the batting cage. Who knew this would be the highlight of his day! He had so much fun! They let him put on the helmet and swing at this ball on a rope. He was so proud of himself when he hit it. I think he told everybody we passed on the way out, "I hit the ball!" Cute.

So, after that, I figured we done a lot and he wanted to ride the train again. "That's great, " i thought. Time to go. He's satisfied and so am I. It was a good outing for just me and him. Our day at the ballpark.

They didn't have all that kid friendly stuff when I took my son to the ballpark for the first time, but we still had a great time. Now I just look forward when I can take my grandkids there. With all the neat stuff they have now, I'll be the coolest nana in their eyes:) Glad you had a great time!

Ms Vera-I'm fairly new here. Have to say your little boy is adorable. I have a one-year old boy named Jack. He's the light of my life! Just wanted to tell you that I think you and all single moms are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Cheers to you!

Way to go Ms Vera! Love the ballgame and getting to see one with my kiddos is fantastic. Got to take one to a playoff game last year, his first and he's in his later 20s. My youngest mid 20s now, went with me to the World Series parade and events, we had a great time, even if it was crowded. My oldest goes with me to a game each year. As a matter of fact we have a couple coming up real soon.

Hi Vera!

I know it's a dangerous thing in St. Louis to admit that you don't really like baseball....I am the same way! It's not that I don't like it...I just get kind of bored if the game is the central focus. But the other stuff is fun, like being there with fun people and taking pictures, eating the junk food, etc.!!

Christian is a little doll, just like his mom. I'm glad you had so much fun, and you know he will remember that day always!

Okay you two . . . what gives with not being a fan of pro ball? lol . . .

Dare I admit that at one time I wasn't much either, but then one day I got excited about a game and the ability of the team to do what they do so well. Now a friend who is an Astros and Yankees fan (lives in TX) and I send fun jabs back and forth to one another . . . maybe one day the two of you will morph as well, lol.

Wow Vera looks like you both had a great time. It's ok not to like baseball, but I for one love it. Your son is adorable. I think its cool that you stepped outside the box just to let him experience baseball. Soooo cool!

Ms Vera,

Your son is very lucky to have you! BTW, you and he have visited the new ballpark more often than I have (which is ZERO!). I love the Cardinal players, but I cannot stand the Owners!!!

Vera,
Your son is a doll, i am glad you had so much fun. My husband got free tickets for last wednesdays game and he took me and my 4 1/2 year old to our first game. Yes i said OUR first game, i am 28 and it was my first but, being able to share that with my son was priceless. And to top it off we were only 20 rows back from the field.
