Okay, I could totally make a commercial for these people.
I am the mother of a 2 and ½ year old boy and since he was about a year old, I started shopping a consignment shop/chain called “Once A Upon A Child.” Now, his dad is convinced that I’m addicted!
I go because you can find nice things for kids and not have to pay big bucks. Yeah, sometimes I don’t feel like sorting through things, but I don’t know how many times I’ve found brand new clothes with tags still on it.
When I first starting going, my son’s dad would say, “you know you don’t have to buy second-hand clothing?” I’d laugh and explain, “it’s not about being “second-hand,” It’s about being cheap!
Yesterday I found a nice Osh Kosh coat for 10 bucks!
I also love yard sales and consignment shops. I just try to get the most for my buck.
So, is there anyone else out there who shares my passion for bargains?

I finally went to "Once Upon A Child" a few weeks ago. I will definitely be back. I also love Goodwill. My husband makes similar comments, but I'm like, why would I pay full price for something my boys can't and won't wear long. I also buy their shoes at Payless, which also drives my husband crazy.

I haven't bought shoes from payless yet, but my best friend found some that she loves for her son.

I have not been to "Once apon a child" but it sounds like a great place.
My boy is almost 12 and I learned years ago to NEVER buy him brand new jeans. They just end up with holes in the knees after a month. That's a waste of money that instead could be used for new shirts or shoes. So I go to local rummage sales for jeans that cost only $0.50 or take any donation that my sister-in-law gives.

Thanks for the tip.

I love Once Upon a Child. I have found great deals there. I bought my son 4 Tommy outfits for less that 15 bucks. I also sell my kids old clothes there and get credit to use when I go shopping again. They are a little picky but I think they are very fair....especially when I was going to toss it anyway. They also have maternity clothing..

I like once upon a child. I just took alot of my baby furniture that I don't use anymore, up to the one on Manchester. They bought my things from me. I guess its worth it to get some money back. but I had spent alot more on the items, than the dollar amount that they gave me. (some of it I never used) But thats okay. I had to do something w/ it. And I don't have the time for a yard sale.

I buy my boys stuff there once in a while. I also found some nice things that still had tags on them too. (Some shirts from the Childrens place.)

I love bargain hunting, too, and buying at unusual places because you can find things that really aren't in stores. We don't buy much now as we're in dejunk mode, but shopping at yard sales and thrift shops or consignment shops that carry clothes for kids provides great savings. I did that when mine were young, and there is more selection now. Kids don't wear out a lot of their clothes. It's a super recycling program really.
