As a St. Louisian I am saddened to see it lose part of its identity. However the reason I'm sad is not because of the loss of an American company but the loss of a St. Louis based company. However as someone originally from PA, I saw what AB did to Rolling Rock. It shut down the brewery in Latrobe, PA where they have been making the beer for 113 years and moved it to New Jersey. The previous owner kept the operations at its hometown without any problem. The previous owner? Inbev.

So the lesson I have learned living here in St. Louis and PA is that American companies can be as cruel and heartless as any foreign-owned company. We've seen that here in St. Louis way too often as company after company here kept getting bought out. The end result, jobs were lost and the operations here reduced. The majority of these companies? American-owned.

So the belief that an American company is kind natured is false. This is indeed a very sad day here in St. Louis,  and I think we have seen way too many sad days here in St. Louis.

Thanks AB!! This proves my point that the ole-mighty dollar means more then tradition! I hope the board of directors sleep well on what they did!

Trust me on this A.B, you let alot of people down and not only in the stl area but the whole U.S.A.!!!

I won't be buying anymore A.B. products and i won't be attending Busch Gardens or even go to a Cardinal game now!

This was the one time that A.B. could shine and you let America down..

Thanks for nothing!
Enjoy that big payoff you guys took!

Ya' if you remember in the beginning AB said on Fox 2 News, and I quote..."it's not about the money" bull@#$%. Let me tell you something as long as I've been alive...and that's been quite awhile even my father used to say " money talks and bull@#$% walks". It's always about money the all mighty dollar that ain't worth a plug nickle in todays world anyway. Everybody knew it was gonna happen it was just a matter of time until the right amount of $$$$$$ was laid on the table.

AB no longer is american, we should treat them as such. I only support American Companies which gets harder and harder to do. Sorry AB but you're now a low rate crappy business. O'Fallon Gold is my new Beer!!

Also In-Bev spends $0 in helping communities. Think about that.. Nothing, they do not care about anything.. So Long Saint Louis - We're no longer a major city.. 1/2 the work force will be unemployed here soon..

i agree pamda, Auggie, has to be turning over.
more because his family wants to get rid of the company for money now instead of the money in the long run.lets look at a broad picture here. money by AB. was invested into the mayor and certain developers, now the wrong time and place put certain persons owes others.
remember stupid is ,is stupid does.,now to sell covers a certain persons debt., until next time..
one question? on the mayors watch has SAIANT LOUIS lost more jobs and people leaving the city , plus MORE tax money come up missing and the money went where? on a mayor salery, how can you invest more mone than your bank ccount has and still buy a couple things that cost more than your paycheck can pay for?

I think In-Bev will change it's tune about donating money. If they don't people will stop buying and selling their products. I know that AB donated a lot of money to Backstoppers to help the families off fallen Police Officers and Firemen. If that money dries up there will be a lot a ticked off cops out there. Then In-Bev will get a real nice welcome to St. Louis from local Law Enforcement.

The jobs lost will be those in the corporate wing according to those in the know. The blue collar jobs will likely remain if not grow. Boycotting Budweiser would only hurt those neighbors that need your patronage to make a living. I love the statement I've heard many times..."We'll it looks like I'm a Miller drinker now." People need to think this through and think what is best for our area and economy. People still bought Chrysler because it helped local workers and it had been owned by Germans for several of the past years. Our economy unfortunately needs InBev to thrive, it's the true Catch 22.

I, like most people from St. Louis, am saddened by this buy out. I am sad because I think we need to stop foreign investors from taking over American companies. St. Louis is losing its big city status. Remember the promises American Airlines made to the people of TWA. You can't many decent non-stop flights out of St. Louis. I will not be purchasing beer from a foreign company. The same thing goes with Boeing. We had better hope they get that tanker program back, because who did Northrup Grumman team with but the European group. Watch out American, but more importantly St. Louis.

Like most St. Louisans, I'm sad to hear about the sale on AB to InBev and worry about the loss of jobs and the effect on local charities and sponsored events. However, I don't feel a boycott of AB products is the right answer. We need to keep AB and AB products going strong. Budweiser is the King Of Beers...and as long as we keep drinking it jobs will be safe here in St. Louis and around the nation. Let's show InBev how strong of an asset AB and St. Louis are.
