There are plenty of sites around the Internet where you can research the prices in other parts of the country but I decided to do an impromptu survey of some of my friends and family by email. What was interesting and depressing at the same time is that Illinois gas priced at $3.79 is the highest I came across. I work in St Louis, so I fill up before I cross the PSB and save 20 cents a gallon.

Here are the results of my survey with just 5 responses so far:

Indianapolis $3,66, Pensacola, FL $3.45, Phoenix, AZ $3.39 and New Jersey running around $3.39. My friend in Colorado responded with a vague "about the same".

What is interesting is that I heard a story that in NJ, there were lower prices on the Garden State Parkway and Turnpike and that people were waiting at those rest stops for an hour for gas. Consider this also....in New Jersey it is illegal to pump your own gas, so they are getting Full Service for 40 cents less per gallon. And somebody cleans your windshield and will check your oil if you ask.

Illinois is higher because we have an extra gas tax which goes for the upkeep of our streets. As the price of gas gets higher, I see more and more people buying gas at the gas station that sits right across the bridge into Alton. 20 cents a gallon is alot to pay when you can go right across the bridge into Missouri and pay 20 cents less.

Nope, I just don't think he did the research. It's full of 'I heards' and 'someone tolds.'

You don't have to be a Rhodes scholar to catch the news story that regular is over $4/gal in San Francisco.

No downtowner. I wasn't dreaming. I lived there for 48 years. Do some research if you don't believe it. Oregon is the other state where you do not pump your own gas.

New Jersey & Oregon stations don't pump your Diesel for you. You have to do that yourself.

I am getting a kick out of all this talk about gas being so high at about $3.50 gallon. I have been paying over $4 a gallon for about 2 months now and while it is taking more money to fill-up my car, I am filling up a lot less often!

Most of the drivers that I have talked to have to fill-up once or twice a week but I have been averaging once or twice a month for the same amount of driving.

I get about 650+ miles out of 3/4 tank (12-13 gal) and I do not drive a Hybrid! I drive a fuel efficient 2003 Diesel Jetta TDI and it's not an econobox.

Call me a liberal. Call me a radical. Or call me just plum crazy. OK, so maybe some of my opinions are off the wall but you gotta laugh people!! Life is too short to take things so seriously.
