We are very close to having the date for the switch to open the western 5 miles of I-64 and close the eastern 5 miles. We hope to be confident in our date to announce it this Friday. The switch will occur in December. Are you ready? Do you know what alternate route you will take for the east half closure? Linda Wilson from MoDOT is online to answer questions for the next hour.

MoDOT and Gateway Constructors are working on the final items to get the west half ready to open in December. We have tried to stay off I-170, Brentwood and Lindbergh as much as possible this year, but now we have to finish these roads. Starting Saturday, we will have a lane closed in each direction on I-170 just north of Galleria Parkway to install the foundation and then the overhead sign truss. This lane restriction on I-170 will last through November 14. On Lindbergh, we have traffic reduced to one lane in each direction every day through Monday to lay the asphalt for the new road. Similar work will occur on Brentwood in November, but exact dates aren't set yet.

Do you have any questions for MoDOT? I will be availble until 8:45 this morning to answer any MoDOT questions.

Before the end of the year, MoDOT and Gateway Constructors will open the west half of the I-64 and close the east half. The switch will happen over night. Commuters and businesses between I-170 and Kingshighway need to prepare now for what alternate routes they plan to use. The key alternate routes between I-270 and downtown will continue to be the other interstates, I-70 and I-44 or I-55.

ST LOUIS - The Hampton Avenue interchange at I-64 will close Monday, September 22 for eight months of reconstruction. This closure will include the eastbound and westbound entrance and exit ramps. Beginning Friday, September 26 at 10 p.m. through Monday, September 29 at 5:30 a.m., I-64 will be closed under Hampton for the bridge demolition. Temporary pavement will be put in place on Hampton to detour the I-64 traffic up the exit ramps, across Hampton and back down the entrance ramps to I-64.
