The Rams open the season in Philly.   Talk about a rude awakening.  And I'm not talking about the hostile crowd that awaits.   The Eagles have been picked by Sports Illustrated to win the rugged NFC East.   And they can bring the heat on dee.   After watching the Eagles defense on tape, Scott Linehan said "it's a scary movie".   Philly's defensive coordinator Jim Johnson is one of the best at dialing up the blitz.   Combine that with a Rams quarterback who's taken a beating in recent years.   Combine that with a Rams o-line that has several new pieces.    I've done the math.   And it adds up to this: "Feed 39 the Rock".    Try and pound the ball all day.  Don't ask Marc Bulger to come out throwing.  Don't ask the o-line to pass block all day.   Steven Jackson got paid.  Now ride him.  Give him a steady dose.  Chew some clock.  Keep Brian Westbrook off the field.   Keep Donovan McNabb off the field.   Does it add up to a win? Maybe not.  But for my money, the best way to keep the Eagles from soaring is to keep it on the ground.  Afterall, Steven should be plenty fresh.

i guess you can tell by my comments that i don't put much stock in the so called experts predictions, they just go by stas on paper and what a team should do,but thats why they play the games.also just wanted to tell you that you do a great job with sports dept, even though you are a little tough on tony and the cards at times,i still wouldn't watch any other sports casts

Predictions - who listens to the media. I use my brain and realize the Rams will go 4-12. Why - they've already proven the inability to even practice as a team.

Take a look at the Cardinals this year. They have seldom operated on all gears. Pitch/field/hit/more pitch - they didn't do this and look what happens.

St. Louis in general needs to invest more money in it's sports teams. The Blues have been embarrassing for many years, the Cardinals as of late, and the Rams need that ten year prayer to come through.

i'm very thankful that pittsburgh and cincinnati are terrible or the cards would be in the cellar...houston is going to surpass us and take third in nl central...i agree on spending more money for higher quality players than just praying the pen doesn't blow the lead...

Repeat post by me , found many times in sports threads in hopes the Rams may actually care and read these.
The rams need to learn how to tackle all over again.
An ESPN highlight twice per year for that superman slam with the shoulder into the ball carrier is not fundamentals.
Wrap your arms around the guy and bring him down.
We learned this in 5th grade!!
More tackles less highlights = more wins.
If you need a demonstration , look on the T-shirts around town depicting "the tackle" and remember it brought a Super Bowl ring to the gateway!!!
Please please learn to tackle and at least give me a reason not to be embarrassed for you and not put you on one of the TV's.
I only have 5 available , you can do it.
With home team advantage and only 8 games on at the most I'm sure you can , I have faith in you.

Since the Rams haven't been blasted by the Eagles yet I'll have to wait and comment later. The Cards will have to revive all of our hopes with a sweep this weekend against the Marlins.

Is it possible to not finish 4th in the NL Central? Advise.

hey martibn,
look im a big rams fan and when we signed bulger and he was startin for us i was very optimistic about it,and with my family and friends i was the only one who was a big bulger fan, well thru the last few years ive really been losing my faith,i just dont see a leader in mark and im kind of dissapointed, because i did have so much beleif in him and i definetly seen a superbowl in his future, now im not sure if i can beleive in him muchless the rams.as for number 39 if the o line isnt makin the holes then hows he gonna do anything,he just keeps running into his own players all the time and if it wasnt for him bein such a huge horse he wouldnt get as many yards as he does,a bulldozer can move mountains too, but you need to run to get to the otherside of the feild.in closing im worried really worried about the rams, they looked heartless.i just hope that the next few games really change my mind.

When I'm not anchoring sports, or heading to Rams Park, or imitating Tony LaRussa, I can be found blogging. This is a whole new world for me. I previously thought a blogger was a bloated jogger.
