Hey all,

We reported this morning that the Chrysler portion of Diamler-Chrysler is for sale.  The automaker's chairman confirmed the company is talking to potential buyers.  Nationwide, some 13-thousand jobs will be cut, including more than 13-hundred at the two plants in Fenton.  Just wondering how many of you know someone or will be affected by this news?   How worried are you about it?  Are you financially preparing for it now?  Are workers in Fenton concerned about a buyout?

Margie I am retired from the Fenton North Plant......Local 136...Over the years I have seen takeover,,sale..shutdowns...and mass layoffs.....everything affects auto workers ranging from Gas prices to competition to Politicians which most dont care a rat's Boogedy about the blue collar worker....but if you followed some of them home you would see that they are family people that have a job and want to keep it....Hopefully the new owners will treat it as a Business and not as a burden as the Daimler did.......

My mom moved up here in '05 because Siemen's bought the Chrysler Electronics plants in Huntsville, Alabama (either had to move or quit Chrysler and have a clean slate with Siemens) and I moved up here last year; my mom has around 7 or 8 years to go before she retires. She has been so worried about the rumors over the past few months; getting online EVERYDAY looking for new information on what is going to happen if they sell or cut jobs. I haven't talked to her about Chrysler actually being up for sell yet. I am afraid she will be really worried again. I don't want them to cut anymore jobs, but I just pray that they don't cut the STL plants.

I grew up in Detroit..The auto industry is a very unstable industry..They (Fenton)have been very lucky!!When you look at what has happened recently in the motor city..ST Louis has been very lucky with only losing Ford..

While I certainly strongly believe we should be concerned as a society about what happens to these Chrysler workers, I also believe we should be even more concerned about the millions more blue- and white-collar workers who have no union protection or pensions whatsoever. That's the majority of workers in America today. Most workers today have no pension except for the 401K "save-your-own-money" plan that are for the most part invested in dubious investments. And now even our Social Security is at risk due to some lame ideas about privitizing it! Just what we need - more corporate crooks, profiting off our Social Security funds! Outrageous!

So, yeah, I agree with Mike-from-IL - the Chrysler workers are relatively lucky compared to the fate waiting for millions more working Americans. Better start shoving some money in the mattress now before it's too late!

My husband work at Fenton North truck plant and right now he hasn't heard anything. He has heard they have people looking at buying part of Chrysler. I believe in Dodge-Chrysler products. We actually can't afford one though. I have lost most of my eye sight in the last two years and we depend on his income and health insurance. I hope people buy more American made vehicles. I think in Missouri if you buy a car or truck built in Missouri you get some kind of tax break. I worry about the future all the time.

Chrysler's main problem - the "suits" are overpaid and underworked. The people on the lines will lose their jobs because of those upper management clowns while the actual laborers are the line. Chrysler does need to update it's products and become more Jap/German in order to compete no matter who buys them. Chrysler - you're top heavy - lose the heads!

I grew up with a Chrysler family and friends and niebors. My ex-husband is an employee at Chrysler. We have all seen and lived the ups and downs of the auto industry. Its always a worry to wonder what the day will be like for all the hard workers when the doors close, because of all the forgien stuff that gets shipped over here, and we americans buy it and then complain that our economy is failing.

I anchor Fox 2 News in the Morning and yes, I actually do enjoy mornings! I've always gotten up early and find getting off to a great start in the morning is refreshing. After Fox 2, my life quickly turns to my family. My 4 year old son, 2 year old daughter, & newborn baby boy keep me busy running everywhere! I know all you Mom's out there can appreciate that. I have to say, being a Mommy is the greatest job on earth! Did I mention I have the best husband in the world? I'm truly amazed at all he does everyday! Other than family life, my heart is with kids born with the odds against them. I spend a lot of time with charities focusing on children. Thank you for allowing me to "wake-up" with you every morning and I look forward to hearing from you on the blogs. God Bless.
