Republican Presidential candidate John McCain today proposed postponing the presidential debate tomorrow night so he and Barak Obama could focus on the financial bailout plan in Washington.  McCain wants to suspend the campaign.  Democratic presidential candidate Obama wants to focus on the bailout plan but continue on with the debate.  You thoughts?

I mentioned in an earlier blog, they both need to be on the floor of the Senate, all three really, If it interferes with their campaign schedule , too bad, they should have done this two years ago.

LOL...Bubba...I think that they should try to do whatever it takes to get us out of this economic crisis....If that means postponing the debate so be it. I think Obama is being a big jerk by not postponing the debate to help the US. Another reason I am not voting for him. He doesn't care about the country. All he cares about his himself.

I think McCain is postponing it because he is running scared..Obama is ahead of him agin and anyways I think they should go on with the debate if they can't do both the debate and something about the economine then neaver should be president..Because when your President you have to juggle more than one thing at a time..

Yeah it would prove that they might give a damn about the economy even though neither candidate will hurt financially since they are already in the system. The debates wont make or break any candidate unless Obama breaks down and calls McCain and old white fart. Now that could hurt him a little bit.

Thank God someone showed some brains and is doing their job(John McCain)unlike Obama who once again shows America what he is made of NOTHING. Just like his here but not voting in Ill. and in Washington. Maybe its good that he is not going back to Washington that way the real men and woman who want to take our best interest to heart can get something done. I say BRAVO McCain once again you showed us the American people that you do truly care about us.

They really aren't "real "Debates anyway...they all ahe questions pre done and they seem to debate the Moderator not each other...so What diff does it make to postpone them ...so all the Politicians can figure out more ways to screw things up...

Well, all those giving McCain heck over this apparently are the minority and look pretty silly. According to most nationwide polls, the people overwhelmingly support and respect McCain's choice to actually suspend campaigning and do their jobs. Over 80% nationwide in 5 seperate polls say McCain is acting correctly and less than 17% support Obama's decsion to continue campaining and continue with debates.

I was split before on which would be right considering the election is near but, when you think about it rationally and logicly, their jobs and duty right now are to help with this crisis and considering they are supposedley our "finest" since they are our choices for president, I agree, they need to be there doing their best to help find answers to this crises and not out campaigning.

As I've said a couple times before:

A brilliant move by McCain to postpone the debates and make sure nobody's campaigning... except Sarah Palin, of course.

If he was really putting "Country First", he would have called a meeting like this years ago to do something about the health care crisis and the 47 million people uninsured.

"Wall Street First" should be his campaign slogan.

I thought the Clintons took care of the health care issue in their first term, they swore they would I just assumed they kept their promise, oh silly me.

The debates are boring and are so staged that it makes no difference.

It's a matter of who's makeup and speech seemed better.

When it comes to that Palin will win. What are the main topics we are interested in?

They'll feed us a line of crap at the debates and look like rocket scientists. Heck, even Bush seemed smart at his debates.

Heck, the republicans should want the debates to be on. Two less democrat senators to join in on the bailout decision.

McCain should fly in just long enough for the debate.

The debate should go on as scheduled. There is no reason they both can't be on the "floor" for the crisis and debate Friday evening. McCain is scared, that is all there is to it. Obama is correct when he said now is the time for each candidate to express their side. For gosh sake, we need all of the debates as we are selecting the better candidate (Obama) to RUN the USA. You really have to think if a presidential candidate is willing to put off an important event, (one that is expressing how he intends to run the USA) what might he do if his walker actually makes it to the White House. Not a wise choice for president if you ask me.

Obama can't go back to the Senate. Everyone would be looking at him as to what he thinks should be done. His vote would be counted, he would be on record. It is not McCain running scared, McCain is willing to tackle the problem head on. Obama is hiding behind his campaign as an excuse.

The debate should be RESCHEDULED, that is all McCain is asking. So what if the debate is a week later. Most people already know who they are voting for, most people. It is the undecided by parties are trying to capture, not the decided. If the undecided waited this long they can wait for a RESCHEDULED debate.

Absolutely! You don't grandstand on the opposite end of the field when your defense-men are trying to save grace. One of these men are going to be President and they should be completely involved.
Postpone.

Are they holding their emergency meeting on Friday night? If not, there's no reason to reschedule.

Obama should be allowed to vote 'Present ' even if he's absent, because he really doesn't add to the debate in the senate, except they need a extra chair.
McCain could be there via satellite.
