I'm curious what your reaction is to the uproar over Sarah Palin being able to juggle the job of vice president as well being a mother. I'm not siding with either political party.  I've heard a lot of talk about this.  It is an issue that hits close to home as I work full time and have two children.

Well, since the Vice President has no formal duties, per se, I think it's rediculous to make a big deal about it. Hundreds of thousands of single mothers balance work and kids. I'm sure the family has it's share of nannies anyway, so I don't see what the big todo is. Her husband is in a position where he makes a nice chunk of change so they can afford the nannies. Given that she has been Governor, which is a whole lot more taxing than Vice President, again I just don't see the big deal.

Don't lump her in with "average American's," though. Her family is very well off, unlike many in this country. To me, it does nothing to prove that she is in touch with the people just because she is a mother.

I bet she will get a nanny for the kids and I think the kids will be lucky if they get lot time with her,if she becomes VP...

Mandy you work and your job can be from early moring to early eving sometimes can't it..

But you still make time for your kids your there for your kids...

But I think Sarah Palin will not be there for her kids as much as she use to be...

It will be hard but they need to get use to the idea if she becomes VP...

I was so proud of Sarah Palins' daughter. She stood so strait with shoulders back, with belly pouched out a little, with a big smile, as if to say take a good look I am me. Her kids will do allright. They have good guidance.

As a single parent who works full time, I can some what understand, however I am against her running period. It would be one thing if she were working a normal job, however VP in no way constitutes a normal job, neither does governor for that matter. Is Palin going to "raise" her family long distance? Up root the family to DC or worse yet use the Presidential jet at our cost to fly from DC to AK.
Just food for thought.

Moving to another city or state because of a job happens all the time. Not a big deal.
Kids survive. Happened to me when I was 8.
Hurt a litte at the time, but I made lots of new friends.

I doubt that she would use the "Presidential Jet" since she sold the Alasken Governors jet to save money. Im sure that being a VP and a mom is not much different than any other mother with teen age kids and smaller ones. She will balance them out just fine, just you wait and see, hasn't she already been doing that? Didn't she give birth with governor? Give her some credit please.

I look forward to watching her in the near future. I bet alot of women can learn a thing or two from her.

All of this discussion is for not, once she and McCain lose. Just check the unbiased stats: http://www.pollster.com/

I'm so sick of hearing all about her being a tough soccer mom. Makes her sound like a true bi***. Are all soccer moms like that? Glad I wasn't one.
I was a divorced single parent who raised 3 children while working a full time job. I felt bad that I couldn't be there for everything my kids needed me for, but their dad gave me no choice. There was a lot of stuff going on in school that i couldn't attend for them. I was able though to be with them at least the first 3 yrs. of their lives. I got to see their first steps, hear their first words, and they grew up calling me Mommy. I have a friend who condemed me on a regular basis for not persuing a "career" and always telling me, "do you want anything?" Her 3 children were basically raised by somebody else who those kids called mommy. Before my husband left, I had what I wanted. I didn't need all the big material things. I had my babies and we got by. After he left, I had to go to work to pay the bills and make ends meet.
Is this sour grapes, no, but sometimes it makes better sense to raise your own kids and forget all the "I don't needs". If it's absolutely necessary that you be a working mom, then by all means, work. If it's just to have "stuff"....raise your babies.

The only uproar was created by you folks in the media. How do I know? Because Palin is a Republican. One set of standards for Republicans and another set of standards for Dems. Republican women are somehow not valid when it comes to feminism/women's causes because they do not agree with libs. Therefore the mainstream media mistreats them. Maybe this is why more and more people are turning off their tv and getting real news form alternative sources instead of the propaganda the networks air.

I think she will do a wonderful job. I think most people underestimate women and moms. If we put our minds to it, we can accomplish it. I know someone that is a single mother, working full time and in school full time. She gets no help from the dad and has to take care of childcare and all that by herself. She is an awesome mom and dedicated.

I'm not sayin' you can't do it. I made my own way after we got divorced. I got no help from him either. My kids all did really well in school and NEVER got into trouble.

It'll be a piece of cake. Her family has enough money accumulated through the years to have a nanny at the White House.

If Palin does reach VP status she'll have many options, heck maybe Michelle Obama or Grandpa McCain could help out.

USFEmail retired - If you are sick of hearing about Palin - then at least get it right - you called her a soccer mom - IT IS HOCKEY MOM. It sounds like the Dem's are afraid of her - she has spunk and I do not see one thing wrong with a woman working - no more than I did with a man working - are we being just a little sexist here - it sure looks like it - women have been working since WWII, I guess you think she should remain at home barefooted and pregnant??? I think she has a lot going for her and she enjoys her work - some people just do not want to work - men and women.

I have been a sexist all my life but this babe will be the first woman president and I will support her. She is twice the man Obama is.

Look at it this way , you have a choice that your mother and for sure your grand mother never had.It hasn`t been that many years ago, that instead of you being able to support your family, your children had to quit school and had to find a job to help support the family.
So in no way Do working women owe anyone a reply .

Senior.....soccer mom, hockey mom, little league mom....who really cares? Does it make that big a difference, or do you just like to knit pick?

I just love watching all of the lefties whining about how she'll have no time for the family.

These of course are the same ones asking the questions such as, "Where is Dick Cheney? What is he doing?"

It was easy enough for GHWB, Dan Quayle and Algore to do, and this woman is heads and shoulders above them all.

The bottom line is that the job is not that stressful and except when traveling, she'll be right there at home every night at the Naval Observatory with the family.

Cheney was probably using his defibrillator both for medical reasons and testing it for McCain.

I've been a lefty on the national level for years while Republican at the local levels. I never whine about any of these idiots rather tease about their lies and what fools they appear to be.

Since my choice is out (Hillary); I am going with McCain/Palin and only because of Palin. I don't really care for McCain but sort of understand that she'll probably take over within 4 years.

I really wish Obama would have done something in Illinois because to have a president from my home state would be awesome and probably would make Illinois a better state. Oh hell, scratch that last comment, the State of Chicago would prosper even more with their local politician winning.

So, in summation, they are all liars and say what we think we need to hear but please, whoever wins - do the right thing - PERFORM!
