Rick Ankiel  is having a melt down, and its due to whats been said about this poor guy not just by the New York daily news (which is a tabloid) but by our own media, and has brought the whole team down...

Rick does not handle adversity well, as people that watched him blow up when he was a pitcher know...So why would a St Louis media p/u a story that first off is 4yrs old, and 2nd do it during a run at the pennant?

This whole story has affected the team in a negitive way...Not only the team, but how I personally view the media here....

I think it was very irresponsible reporting...

Here is my point...A doctor and her husband leave a kid in a hot car to die, and the media turns around and tells people not to judge them...
A baseball player takes a drug that is not banned at the time of the alledged use, and he makes the front page?

To me it sounds GOOFY...

Maybe Rick Ankiel really needs to start taking HGH! I think the entire Cardinals batting lineup needs Barry Bonds cell phone number. Wow - they stink. I wish Reyes would come pitch to our 12U select baseball team - we need more hits.

Go Cards (for what it's worth)!

You know i get tired of hearing about the unfair advantage that steroids, HGH, whatever gives players. It may help, but without natural ability in the first place, these guys wouldnt be there anyhow. If anyone thinks they can do better, please step up to the plate. As far as the cards go, after the first half of the season, to be in the running is pretty remarkable. So give a little credit where its due. The media ought to back off and stick to reporting the news and give Ankiel a break. How many people would be able to keep their composure with that kind of media pressure. Back off media! Leave the poor guy alone would ya! MY GOSH!!!

medarman: These guys in the bigs usually start taking steroids about their 2nd year. They have the ability to play baseball but this gives them the edge (like 30-50 more feet of hitting distance). HGH isn't close to what steroids does. As for stepping up to the plate - I will - the Cards need new management. Who in their right mind would bring Reyes back to pitch this year in the bigs? Who allows their pitchers to give up 5 to 6 earned runs in 1 inning?

The Cards - remarkable? - how bout lucky - lucky that the 31 game over .500 Red Sox aren't in our NL Central, or any of the other leaders in the other divisions (AL or NL). It's fortuitous for us that the NL Central is the easiest division this year. But, the Cards haven't been performing and why? I have no idea.

As for Ankiel he needs to ignore the media junk. He's done nothing wrong except soak in what they are saying. Ignore it Ank and start crankin' again!

My question is how would the local media have looked if they completely ignored Ankiel's situation? Good or bad, it's news and its happening in St. Louis. Maybe they shouldnt have judged him harshly, but not mentioning him at all...now that's bad journalism.

As for myself, I'm a Cards fan til I die and I'm going to give Ankiel the benefit of the doubt

Without the facts, the benefit of their reporting should have been not reporting, and then only after the facts they should have sided one way or the other...

But basicly the tabloid (New York daily news)got what they wanted...Last year the Cardinals beat the Mets, when they really should'nt have...

So by stirring the pot New York got what they wanted...They effected an outcome...Their media did a great job...

Why tell a story without the facts...It's like going to play baseball without a glove...It's like going to work without tools...

Should the story have been told? NO...How does it pertain to today? The alledged drug was legal in 04... So who cares...IF YOU CAN LINK IT TO HIM USING IT IN 07? THATS A STORY...Otherwise there is no story, just gossip and they got St Louis to bite...JMO

The St Louis News comment should have been, "SO WHAT" instead of highlighting "The New York Daily News is reporting" Like they are some kind of credible news reporting agency...Or asking the New York paper how it pertains to 07, before they put Rick on the middle of the highway to get run over...If the St Louis media does not want him here, tell him that, but don't run the kid over... He has been though enough....

im sorry folks, i just wish that the media would actually report on some of the good things going on and not just the negitive all the time. I know that controversey sells, and that is why they do what they do. Im just a more positive person and get tired off the negetivity. There are alot of good things in the world and sports that can be reported as well.
